Thanks taviking22, would like to ask a couple of questions. Do you know what your loaded pin weight is? How has your 2012 Pinnacle held up? Are decals still in good condition?
Thanks

2855 Dry - As you see it there about 3050-3100 - I have a 5.5K Gen set and a 15 gal tank (5 gal in it) - in the front - so I'm a little heavier than Jayco stated specs - 2 AC's - Genset - Wood fireplace mantle option all = more weight.

Are your tires rated about 3500 capacity each?

3500 for sure. You should be able to handle around 3200-3300lbs pin weight with a new SRW 3500 (then add in family and everything else you might carry in the truck))

We are 3300 on the pin with a gcwr of 22800 loaded (we are legal to 25,000). Pulling a 2014 351 RSTS with a 2013 Ram 3500, 6.7 Cummins, SRW. I had a dually before this truck but I prefer this truck for all round driving.

Specifically to the question, get a one ton. For the extra $3k you will have towing piece of mind. Can you do it with a 3/4 ton? Sure....probably.

In the GMC/Bowtie world - it's 800.00 difference between the 3/4 ton and the 1 ton - just FYI

SO, for my Jayco Pinnacle 38FLSA loaded I should ONLY be looking at RAM 3500 with Duelly? I think I read Duelly tow rating is 29,000. When i looked on the 2004 chart i was dismayed. This truck I found is such a bargain, but I don't want to buy the WRONG truck to TOW my Pinnacle. When they moved my fiver with a 2500, while backing the trailer up a slope to park it, the 2500's rear wheels came off the ground about 2 inches > LOL

2004 RAM Pickup Payload and Towing Charts

Also, my RAM_Friend tells me buy the manual too; claims he's been thru 2 automatics already.

Any help appreciated. I will mainly be hitching and hauling my Pinnacle MOSTLY on flat, freeways. Is it SAFE to use a 3500 2WD or for the 38FLSA does it mean 3500, 6-spd manual, duelly and 373 gearing?

Help!

I have 2016 38FLSA am looking at a 2004 RAM 3500 SLT QUAD DR LB 6sp with hitch and exhaust brake > do I really need Duellie? Does 4WD help when parking trailer in tough spots that are NOT FLAT? Just curious.

Any help appreciated. I am buying a truck now. My budget is like $17,000
