Tripod pin stabilizers vs. Frame stabilizers

Just wanted to ask if anyone out there has experience with both the tripod pin stabilizer jack and the frame-mounted stab jacks, such as "Strong Arms". The good frame stabs seem to cost a bunch more, and I'm wondering if they do enough of a better job to justify the extra expense over the tripods. I already use two crank-down stabs in the rear, and X-chocks between the tires, which eliminates a lot of sway, but would like to tone it down even more with some front stabs. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

We have been using aftermarket stabilizers for almost 7 years. We started with a Bi-Pod then added additional arm jacks at the very back of the RV. While they helped some, they didn't stop the movement enough for me. We use the plug it right brand. Hugs, Di

Hi

We have STRONG ARMS on our Jayco and we don't need a fifth wheel tripod.

Before we put them on the trailer we had a lot of movement - now we are very stable.
The best part you have nothing to carry when we are travelling

We have the tripod and I don't think it does much good. I only put it up when we are staying in one location for a week or longer cuz it's kinda pain in the neck. Plus, as stated earlier, you take up space to carry it. Looking back, I would have bought the Strong Arms.

We used the Tri-Pod on our previous Eagle 5th Wheel, worked ok but we have the landing gear stablizers by "Plug it Right" on our Pinnacle and they work great, one of the best investments we made.

The "Plug it Right" Stablizers are a great product and cost quite a bit less than some of the more common names.

OK, thanks, everyone, for your comments. Believe I will go for the frame mounts instead of the tripod. Now, one further question for owners of both the Strong Arm and the Plug it Right: It's difficult to tell from the pics, but are the arms round tubular, or square ? And do you have to drill holes in the bottom of the landing gear legs to attach, or do they just use bolts to go through the existing holes in the legs ?

I can only speak for the Plug It Rights. They are round steel tubing. They use bolts that go through the existing holes in the legs. Di

We added the SteadyFast stabilizer kit.what adfference they make.Thay are round tubes and the frame mounts use self tapping screws that need an impact wrench to set.took about 45 min to install.
I still use the tripod just because we have it and I just real like giving the frame some extra support

Strong Arms are a round tube - look like the same material used in the plug it right.
you have a few holes to drill for the self tapping screws in the frame

Thanks again, everyone, for the helpful info. Y'all have sold me on the frame mount stabs, and they will be high on my list to buy as soon as I get through my lung surgery (scheduled for this Friday) and the associated recovery period (4-6 weeks at home). This should also make the DW happier when the trailer no longer swings and sways like Sammy Kay. (For those of you who have no idea who Sammy was, he led a Big Band back in the 40's, and his theme was "Swing and Sway with Sammy Kay")

Dutch and Di -

Yes, I had surgery to remove a carcinoid tumor from my lung, and have never smoked, either. Am recovering pretty well so far. As for Sammy Kay, I think it's great that you know exactly who he was. I consider myself a geezer for sure, and proud of it ! As soon as I can afford them, I think the plug it right stabs will the ones I get. As best I can tell from the pics available, they look pretty good. Do you know where I can get a brochure or something on them, to get a little more info ? Thanks
