I would have no problem paying for better quality.

But, would everyone else agree?

There are companies that build to extremely high standards. But, the cost is very high. An example would be DRV. You can get a fiberglass roof on their trailers, but the trailer will set you back nearly $100K.

How long can it take to sweep any unwanted stuff off the roof before they lay down the roof membrane?

Take a factory tour and see how fast they run those trailers through the line.

Time is Money!

High end RV`s will no doubt be better made, but my bottom of Jayco`s food chain Jayflight has a neat and tight roof, I was just up there yesterday. I did see one small protrusion on the very back edge that looked like a staple under the membrane, nothing to lose any sleep over.

Maybe try a different approach? Contact the manufacturer of the roofing material and see if there is surface preparation that is required for this product and if it's acceptable to lay their product where there is still debris?

Bumps are one thing, things that look like sharp nails are another. And yes, I would want it documented and inspected and fixed.

I don't recall telling anyone they had to worry. I said I would worry.

from the Dicors installation
6. Broom or blow-off of substrate all foreign materials and check entire roof for exposed screw heads or sharp objects that may prematurely wear the BRITEPLY roof.
It doesn't say to blow most, it blow off all foreign material. Will this invalidate the 12 year warranty on their roofing?

From my side chair analysis, your roof was not installed in accordance with the manufactures installation.

And from their warranty page:
Quote:
This warranty applies to the membrane only and does not include improper installation, sealant, adhesives, flashings or other accessories contained in the roofing system.
Then Jayco warranty covers defects in workmanship. Sounds simple to me, roof was not installed in accordance with the roofing material manufacturer = defect in workmanship.

Just wondering and possibly an option...

At Rv.net non-Jayco folks have mentioned that other rv manufacturers (not just Jayco) produce roofs with the same results as yours. Can you find those posts then PM the owner to see how they dealt with their rv dealer/company/manufacturer?

I read that after I posted, but still a different angle, get the install instructions from them. If it's the same as Dicors then the roof should have been cleaned first otherwise it's a defect in workmanship. Just a thought?

Did that, they even have the pictures. They can't get involved between Jayco and their customers, which is understandable. I did send my contact at Alpha Systems (the membrane manufacturer) another email yesterday that said just tell me that what you see in the photos is ok and I will be fine with that. I further said that if they think there may be a problem don't respond to my email. So far no response, does that say anything?

You would think, but Jayco and the servicing dealer think there is not a problem. MBA and Beancounter business mentality.

Between here and RV.net as well as MyRVTalk.com I have communicated with several folks both via the open forum and by PM and email. Some have had their trailers fixed under warranty and others dealt with it themselves. Almost every single person who has had issues like mine said their roof was not nearly as bad as mine looks.
