Warranty surprise

I picked up our 5th wheel from the dealership service department today. We purchased it last month and had spent only seven nights in it before dropping it off at the dealership for a handful of warranty repairs to correct problems ranging from an inoperative kitchen slide* to replacing damaged slide weatherstripping. We were happy to have it back after they had it for two weeks.

I towed it home, backed it into its parking spot then opened the basement door to get the chocks - and saw this: (photo below)

Emailed the photo to the service manager and told him I'm impressed at the dealership's efforts to keep customer's RVs rodent free when they are in his care. However, I suggested he should tell whoever is responsible for removing them when repairs are done that they need to do a better job of cleaning up after the rodent control crew.

Haven't heard back from him yet...

* Slide suddenly stopped working - would not extend. Turns out the slide motor wiring harness was wrapped around the shaft, preventing it from turning. Yeah, they build them fast...

Wow my concern would be that the snake is still in your camper somewhere.

Remind her that the warranty does not cover repairing bullet holes.

Thankfully NOT a rattler - note the tail.

When I was a land surveyor in south Florida in the 70s, I encountered snakes frequently. While the sound of a rattle would literally send a chill up my spine, I would still rather deal with a rattler than a water moccasin. While a rattler would leave me alone if I did the same, a moccasin seemed to be much more ill-tempered and just as likely to move towards me as away.

We spent a fair amount of time in swampy areas when retracing large boundaries. I cannot begin to imagine encountering one of those pythons that have since taken up residence!

When I was in college I worked summers on a survey crew. I have a vivid memory of an encounter with a large water moccasin late one morning - and yes, those things are very aggressive.

I have an even more vivid memory of breaking for lunch that day and, while walking back to the truck, having the crew chief sneak up behind me and drape the dead snake around my neck.

I was out fishing with my Dad years ago. We were in a 16 ft aluminum boat with an electric motor on a small lake (no gas motors allowed). This water moccasin comes out from the shore line and swims like 100 yds to our boat. We tried to move away but he could swim faster than our electric motor. It caught up and for a good 10 minutes it was us vs. the snake. He kept trying to climb into the boat and we kept beating it with paddles, and anything else we could find.
Finally killed it.
2nd worst fishing adventure I ever had.

Just to make you sleep easier, there are rattlesnakes that don't rattle and that because the ones that do rattle get killed quicker, the evolution will result in silent rattlers.

Don't think I could ever sleep in the rv again. I'd probably wake up in the morning and it'd be sleeping on my pillow.
