Water hoses

Here we go, I'm gonna just throw this out there, how many of you guys ever drank from a common green water hose when you were knee high to a cricket and are still living? I am asking this because I just bought a very nice mildew resistant heavy duty water hose for my rv water supply but it says not safe for drinking water, I plan on showering with that water and possibly using the water from it to brush my teeth, but will not be ingesting any water from it hopefully. How many of you actually use a "drinking water" water hose for your rvs water supply?
We use bottled water for making our coffee simply because campground water usually smells and taste pretty bad.

Also, I use a large house style water filter between the pole and the rv.

Let's hear it! Lol

Water hoses

Ok so I do buy a hose that's "safe" to drink out of but like you, we only shower and brush our teeth with the camper water. We carry cases of bottled water to drink. I replace the hose every year because it's not expensive. So use your hose this season and then replace it with a "safe" one next year. And keep the current heavy duty for around the house.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - I too drank out of a garden hose and have made it this far...

But you gott'a admit - the hose imparted a distinct "hose" flavor to the water. Personally I'd prefer to avoid that.

Plus, and I don't want to sound xenophobic, with so much stuff that touches our food being made in China these days, personally I'd err on the side of caution.

The hose we used 40 years ago may not have had the same plasticizers and may not have leached bad stuff like the news ones could.

We've got a white 'safe for drinking' hose.

And finally - you never know.

When you arrive at the Pearly Gates, St. Peter might pull you aside and say "You know, you arrived here about 10 years early, right? Had you not been drinking out of those darn garden hoses!"

White.
Funny you ask.
I just swapped out the "quality" Camco I'd bought because of leaking at the male end.
The cheesy looking hose "free with RV purchase" from the dealer is holding just fine.

I use safe drinking hoses in addition to NSF certified filters. Right now, I use the filters externally which means all water coming in is getting filtered. I hope to install a canister filter on the cold side to the kitchen sink later this year, which is where I really care to have it.
I have two little ones and I'm extra cautious because of them. It's cheap and easy to do, so why not. Take the hose you got and put it in your black tank kit for when you need to rinse.

I use a white hose when on full hook-ups, but we mostly camp in state parks so it's usually tank water. No filters and I don't get too worried about it, it's camping.

I do have a drinking water hose... but I've never noticed a "hose" flavor when drinking water from a garden hose. Well, I also haven't drank out of a garden hose in 35 years or so.

I've drank from a hose, ran with scissors, and maybe done something my mother said would make me go blind (but I ate a lot of carrots to counteract that). I'm still here, also! Like the t-shirt says "NURSE-- the first person you see after saying "HEY, WATCH THIS!"

We use drinking water hoses with an in line filter. Growing up, we drank mostly out of the faucets instead of the hoses. Most of our garden hoses were used in farm related stuff, you really don't want to know where the ends of those hoses may have been.

We connect a white with blue stripes Camco drinking water safe hose to our RV City water and we have been drinking that water for years. My parents ran a regular garden hose to their camper since I was very young. I'm still here.
We keep the fresh water tanks cleaned out and drink the water we carry in that when we are boondocking.
So, NO, we do not carry cases of bottled water.

"Drinking water safe" hoses aren't necessarily white. They can also be other colors. I carry a white one and a coiled green one.

Water hoses

Best hose I've owned so far and yes it's not white. No kinks, no drips, no errors!

I have and use a white one but I have seen blue ones that are drinking safe recently.
