Water pressure/flow issue

I have a Northpoint 377RLBH coming up on one year old this month.

We traveled for almost 6 months without any water flow/pressure issues and then a couple months ago the water flow slowed to a trickle. Out of sight, out of mind until that point but I quickly remembered the water filter...must need replacing, which I did. Good to go, but only for about 6 weeks before the trickle started again. Perhaps we just have very 'bad' water where we are, so I replaced it again. It's now been less than 2 weeks and the trickle is back. When you first turn on a faucet the pressure is strong from built up pressure in the lines, but after a few seconds it's down to a trickle. All faucets the same - kitchen, shower, bathroom vanity. Pressure at the CG spigot is consistently strong. If I remove the filter cartridge all together, we have consistent strong pressure and water flow.

Not sure what is going on. Certainly don't need to be changing out $20 filters every two weeks.

I replaced the original with Flow-Pur 8's (model #WCBCS975-RV). Maybe it's not the correct one or too "tight" of a filter to maintain adequate pressure?

Are there any additions or changes I could consider like a reserve tank, additional pump - or somehow use the dry camping pump to maintain pressure?

It all depends on the water you are pushing through the filter. The WCBCS975-RV is a 5 micron rated solid block filter which will plug up pretty quick if you don't have a sediment filter inline before the carbon filter. You can try a higher number micron carbon filter this may help. It sounds like a filter problem since when removed everything works fine.

I'd check next to your water pump and see if there is a strainer on the inlet side of the pump and to make sure it's clear.

Also, make sure all your valves for tank fill, city water, etc are all in the correct position.

I have seen campers set up and hook up the water line direct to their inlet without ever purging the water hose. You would be amazed at the junk that comes out of a water faucet if it has not been used in a while. Not saying that is your problem but can certainly add to it. We always flush out the faucet and water hose before hooking up to our rig.

On our unit, of course there is the water regulator at the faucet, then a water filter outside that goes to a water softener then to the water filter for the unit. We have not experienced any water pressure issues with this set up - except when the toilet is flushed & wife is doing dishes.
