Water pump vibrates
Does anyone know how much there water pump vibrates when the tap is on low flow but enough that the pump does not cycle on and off. Mind vibrates enough that the water pipe vibrates like crazy in the under belly making loud noises.
Thanks Craig

They always vibrate a bit and you can hear the pump. Be sure the suction hose has enough flex in it. My pump I installed on a separated piece of plywood with a 2 " stiff foam buffer. It cut the noise down a bit more.

The addition of silencing materials and a accumulator tank will greatly reduce the noise, vibration and short cycling. Here is my pump silencing mod.

Thank guys
I am planning on adding as much installion foam to the water pipe as I can slide in through the slide motor access panel but even while holding the water pipe at that point ( which is about 15 ft from the pump ) you can still fill the hammering in the pipe and it vibrates about an 1/8 of a in. I do not think I will remount the pump until the warranty is up.
Crabman, How much volume do you get with your accumulater.

flexible link
The trick that I've used is to install a loop of flexible hose to the output side of the pump. Just about 18" half inch hose will stop all vibration from transmitting down line.

Before buying a "silencing kit" Take a look at the pump. When I took my panels off to get to it, I found that Jayco had already installed one on the new rig. I just went about isolating all the hoses that touched the walls or floor with foam insulation as many suggest.
Never silenced it completely but since we don't boondock, it is quiet enough for us.

Thank You
I did add foam to a lot of the pipe ( had to remove some as it was to close to the rotating shaft of the slide and not enough room for the wiring when the slide was out ). Sounds like a good plan to add flex hose at the pump after warranty is up ( it does not have it now ).
When I took the slide motor access panel off the wires were resting on the hex nut shaft with the clip, had worn thou one wire ( that's why the fuse blew ). I made a bracket to hold the wires away from the shaft.
Thanks again Craig

Not a whole lot of volume with that one, I suspect about a quart. The biggest advantage is when running the water slowly as in rinsing dishes, the pump is not constantly bumping on/off. Some have added residential 2 gallon tanks to their system for more volume with good results, but obviously you need more room for that.

I watched a fellow RV'er install a tank to his setup. He picked it up from LOWES...
Certainly helps out the on/off cycle period of the pump...
CRABMAN did good putting foam under his pump and tank - great job... My two trailers only have a fat piece of carpet directly under the motor mounting. One is quiet and the other one is loud haha... Think my fresh water tank hose is hitting the hot water heater housing on the loud one...

I took ours back to the dealer and they installed it for me under warranty. The specs on the pump installation called for flex hose on both the inlet and outlet.

I should read my manual on the pump.
Thanks

Timber, I read that in my manual just last night. Jayce plumbs the out right to the hard plastic line. Mine hammers violently, should really do something about it in the spring. I found a shurflo silencing kit for 20 dollars. Two hoses and two adapters. Haven't ordered it but seems reasonable. Maybe my dealer will do something, doesn't hurt to ask I guess.
