100 to 110 km/h (Canadian, eh!)

or about 62 to 68 mph. Depending on the terrain and the wind.

You have the Cummins with 68RFE tranny and 3.42s? That's what I have and my truck runs better at 67 than 65 in 6th and could be it gets the RPMs a little higher.

Hardly ever more than 60, and often slower depending on the road conditions. And I always drop down to the recommended caution speed that's posted ahead of curves and other such things.

I try to stay right around 65mph because 85mph was starting to freak out everyone around me

I agree and have evidence that going over 65 mph with ST tires are a recipe for disaster. I just sold my Eclipse 19FK TH which a couple years ago I installed brand new load range E ST tires and blew them up cold to 80 psi thinking I could now put the hammer down. Well, on I-15 in NV heading south in about 100+ degree weather at 75 mph, I blew two tires within maybe 50 miles or so between with one destroying the street side fender skirt. Needless to say, all (4) tires ended up destroyed with (2) tires suffering tread separation in that one trip. I later discovered that 65 mph is the max. speed with any ST tires even though I upgraded to load range E. The following year in late 2015, I actually drove to WV from SoCal and back and I kept the speed at or under 65 mph and did not suffer a tire problem whatsoever. Granted the trip started out in September which was much cooler than the 100+ degree days from the disaster trip the year before but I think having all four tires being destroyed is true fact evidence that speed kills due to the friction and heat generation.

With all that said, I will be upgrading all (5) tires on my soon to be new TH specified in my signature below. I will be first looking into the fitment of 235-75/R16 G rated Sailuns and if fitment is a problem, I will be going with the 17.5" wheels and Sailun H rated upgrade.

I drove an 18 wheeler in all 48 and Canada for over 10 years after my military stint in the mid seventies so, I have good experience with heavy trailer hauling however, I have learned a good lesson and will now keep my speed down to 65 mph or below at all times even with the upgraded wheels and or tires.

60-62 is mx for me. Just a weekender, and that is fast enough for me. I ride the right hand lane so if you want to pass, feel free.

Depending on the conditions (traffic, roads, weather) I tend to stay around 55-65 mph. I refuse to be in a hurry because I carry precious cargo along (DW & two young children).

Around 60-62. When I first started towing the TT I was under the illusion that if I towed at 55 I would be the slow poke and everyone would go right by me, hence I would rarely have to pass anyone. Nice and relaxing. Boy did I get fooled. There are so many driving 45- 55 at least on these non interstate roads that I frequent that I was still constantly coming up on slow traffic to pass. So my theory did not work.

It something that you would think would be mentioned when you buy a new trailer.
Most comments here have been regarding fuel economy or personal comfort, with very little mention of the actual speed rating of your tires.
Even when I have mentioned to friends that you cant tow at 85 mph with their tires they think I am stupid.

Between having 3 or 4 year old tires on the trailer, trying to get good mileage, and the extremely dangerous highway we travel on for most of our trips I usually keep the cruise control at 55. Plus that is the speed limit when towing on most California highways, a fact that way too many people ignore, which is even scarier with some of the unsafe towing setups. I am not going to risk damage to my trailer, truck, or most importantly endanger my family or someone else's because I want to stress myself out going too fast just to get to the campsite a few minutes earlier. If you get stuck behind me I will pull over if I can, and if not I will usually speed up to 60 temporarily until it goes back to 4 lanes again.

Stay safe!

X2!

We leave plenty of time and take it easy on ourselves and the vehicles.

55-60 mph for us. I don't want to push our luck by going any faster. Also after reading all the negative comments about the Rainer tires here on the forum, I really really don't want to push our luck.

I usually tow between 65-67mph, with an occasional creep up to 70. Depends on the hills in our area, don't stay at 70 but a couple of minuets.

We have places in Texas where the speed limit is 85... which is about 20 mph faster than I'm willing to go. So I get passed a lot... which doesn't bother me in the least. Some people seem to think I'm #2. Remember... #1 is the index finger...

Yes. And I agree it runs better at higher speeds. However the trailer tires are rated what they are and I don't feel like pushing it. As stated in my original post, I'm just in no hurry. Locking out 6th and running a little slower gives me about the same ram as the higher speed in 6th and I've found I get slightly better fuel economy too likely due to wind resistance being less at the lower speed.

Right around 60.. Not worth risking hurting myself or someone else.

The same here Grumpy. 60-62 is perfect for me and my G614's roll just fine also. My fuel economy is 12 +/- .5 mpg virtually anywhere I go. I can always tell when I get some bio however since my mpg's drop to 11'ish.

My daughter says she wants to get a vanity tag for my 5'er - GOROUND or similar, but I'm not the one that just got a speeding ticket.

X2 on the lack of "need for speed".

To me, camping is not about speed, but more of enjoying the scenery. Some of the greatest scenery is on the road to the campground!
