What to look for during PDI?

What are some of the problems you guys have found wrong during your PDI's? Picking ours up next Friday and although I want to get it and get on the road, I want to make sure and give it a thorough going over before pulling away.

Thanks,
Jr

No problems that I found but one thing I would recommend is "Take your time". Ask a lot of questions and learn to say "Show me". If you can take someone with you, have them video tape the whole thing so you have the video to refer to later.

Our dealer schedules the PDI for a two hour period. When we took delivery, we took the entire two hours. I took our camcorder and my wife took notes.
If you are not sure or even have the slightest doubt, ask them to show you.
If this is your first RV, take your time, ask them to slow down and repeat something if needed. DO NOT BE AFFRAID TO ASK. This is your RV, so be sure you know as much as possible from them before you take it home.
What to look for?
Fit and Finish is the biggest thing. Cabinet doors shut and open. No gaps.
Gas works
Electric works
Lights work
Fridge/Freezer works
Furnace/AC works
Open and close windows
Raise and lower all stab jacks

This will help you understand the operation of everything and you are familiar with it when you go camping the first time.

GOOD LUCK and most of all ENJOY IT!!!!!!

Pdi

You need to check the trailer brake wires under the camper. Jayco was having a problem with bad connections under the camper. I brought my new camper home and I had a burning smell coming from the battery box. I looked under the trailer and the brake wires were hanging down hitting the axle.
I was rushed through my PDI and after my first trip, I had a list of 26 items needing repair. After 6 trips to the dealer, I hope they are all fixed!

If the RV dealer is installing your fifth wheel hitch on your TV make sure they give you all the product specification and installation documentation.

Don't do a PDI in bad weather (rain, etc.), advise the RV dealership ahead of time to have the FW inside for the PDI.

If the PDI results require that the FW remain at the dealership for repairs, don't open your checkbook until you accept the repairs.

Thanks guys. The unit I'm picking up (2012 365BHS) is the identical floor plan our previous camper (2011 365BHS). Hitch work is all done, and pretty much the only thing our new one has that the old one didn't is the keyless remote and door entry keypad. I definately check to ensure everything works (fridge, stove, landing gear, etc, but hadn't really thought much about checking drawers, cabinet doors and so forth.

Check the blinds to make sure they travel freely, moldings are not lose, all shelves are securely fastened, under the sinks are DRY and mounting hardware is attached. Once you get the unit home, check the A/C bolts, actually you'll need to check these often as many of us find them backed out after a trip or two.

Check that the cabinet latches aren't loose and that the wood work isn't defective or damaged. Had a number of problems with that. Also ran into an issue right away with the water pump pulsing excessively that was a result of clogged aerators in the faucets. They never did say what was clogging them but my guess was sealant from the tanks. Cleaned them out and problem fixed. Look underneath for anything loose or hanging down where it shouldn't be. As mentioned before, record your PDI. Also make sure that any hitch work they're doing is correct. Found out after I got home they mounted one L bracket several inches closer than the other on my A-frame. Guess who had to have a welder repair the extra holes drilled in the frame of my new camper? I didn't feel too sorry for them, they should have known better.

I think Jayco redesigned the bunkhouse air in 2012. There was too many problems with lack of airflow to the back. My airflow was horrible until I designed the "pizza box" repair for the A/C.

I had the same problem with our 2011 365BHS and my sales person did confirm with Jayco the rear bunk cooling problem has been addressed. I'll be sure and post fedback once I've had a chance to test it for myself. Which will be in 8 days by the way.

Thanks for some of the ideas of what to look for. We pick up our new 2012 315FBHS on Tuesday and the last couple of trailers we've bought we have tended to rush through PDI since we know how most things work already. Fit and finish is going to be high on the list this time around.

Hoping they will by-pass the "this works like this and this button does that" part like they did on my 2011. Obviously, I want to make sure everything works properly, but just about everything on this 2012 is the same as my 2011 was. My goal is to be hitched up and rolling down US 63 S by 2pm.
