Any name brand full synthetic high temperature wheel bearing grease will do.

I recently replaced all my bearings and seals with Timkens made in the US sets. I took that opportunity to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease. Been using their oil in my trucks for years so I decided to use it in my bearings too.

Very wise decision! Dump the china bearings and seals and going to full synthetic.

Wanted to do it as soon as I brought her home. Only took me a year to get around to doing it...

I waited until the 2-year warranty was up before switching to the Timkens. I had the dealer do the annual repack until the warranty was up. Probably won't do that again. When I pulled hubs to do the swap out this season I found that they had just EZ-lubed them. Ended up having to pull the brake components out as well, wire brush all the contact points and re-assemble with some brake grease as they were sticking really bad.

That's exactly why I don't trust dealers to do my service work. Fortunately I am mechanically inclined and can do most repairs / upgrades myself...

You won't be sorry - well worth the days work. Hardest part for me was tracking down the right Timken part numbers...

Let me know when you find the bearings, I would like the numbers because I also have a 28.5 with 3 year old bearings

Hyperactive, you didn't say if you were asking about grease for lubing between a wheel bearing repack or an actual repack. If you were asking about maintenance in between repacking, then Lippert will tell you that they ship their trailers with a Lithium Complex NLGI No. 2 bearing grease. If you are just squirting some new grease in between repacks for maintenance, then you want to be very careful to only use the same type of grease that is already in your bearings. If you are talking about a repack, then a high quality synthetic bearing grease is the way to go.

I am looking for what the factory uses, just until I can clean and repack them with a high quality grease.

Then you want a Lithium Complex. From their Trailer Axle Owner's Manual, Lippert recommends Mobilgrease HP, Ronex MP, Kendall L-427, Valvoline Val-plex EP, and Pennzoil Premium Grease 707L. I use Lucas Red'N'Tacky high temp bearing grease because it meets, or exceeds, all of the specs required by Lippert and is readily available.

Be sure to use the same type (for example lithium) and NLGI grade. Also use the amount recommended. More is not better. otherwise, you risk compatibility issues.
