We are home!!!
Got back to Reno early Sunday afternoon after spending a few more days than we planned on.
Long story but will try and be short;
First the 36KPTS is an awesome floorplan...even better than expected. The go through at the dealer was complete and thorough...the roof is smooth and no issues by the way.
We stayed overnight on that Thursday (10 days ago I think) and Friday we hooked up to head to Pechanga. Just getting on the 215 about a mile from the dealer the turbocharger decided to take a crap and we lost all power. Limped down to the next exit and got on a side street with no traffic and called the dealer and told them what happened to see if they would come and pick up thePinnacle and get it back to their place which they graciously did. Unhooked and without the weight of the 5ver had power to get to a Chevy dealer for service but being late Friday all they could do was to put in on the computer to verify any issues. It was the turbo plus the water pump was leaking. Luckily they had a new turbo in stock but they could not start working on it until Tuesday due to scheduling and told them as long as they were in there to change the fuel filter since I had no record of when that was changed. Got the truck back late Thursday and decided to stay over at Pechanga (oh the dealer gave us the name of a guy that tows RV's and he got the rig over there the next day, Saturday, after the breakdown) another night and leave early Friday to stop at Lone Pine for the night on the way home.
Early Friday we were hooking up but the door side slide would not go in...heard some clunking, stopped and put it back out. Then heard some really bad things going on!!! Tried to retract again and all you heard was the motor running. Since the dealer was 22 miles away and had no mobile service they gave us some names of people that had mobile RV service and we had a guy take a look. I'll post some pics of what he found and had to replace tomorrow to get the slide in locked and safe but since it was then Saturday afternoon we decided to head home and have the local dealer fix it. Jayco approved on the spot the mobile repair.
We have an appointment for Wednesday with the local dealer and they indicated no problem even though we didn't buy it there.
Sooooo....quite an experience but we sure had a lot of time to bond which actually did not take very long. Love the floorplan again and once we get the slide issue resolved hopefully that will be the end of any big problems.
Glad we have the dually as it was very stable in all the wind we had going up US 395.
Will have pics up of the rig tomorrow.
Sorry...guess this was not all that short.

Congrats on the new rig Larry. Breakdowns are never any fun, I hope the truck and trailer are both ready to roll again soon.

Sounds like quite an adventure but at least you got to break the new camper in.

Thats some pretty fancy metal work there, do you hire yourself out?
what could possibly have bound up the slide to cause that kind of twisting of the bar that bad? I'm assuming that is the bar that crosses from the motor side to the gears on the opposite side of the slide?

Larry, Congradulations, Nice 5th Wheel.
Wonder what caused the slide drive bar to twist, hope everything goes great and no more issues.

Nice rig! I am pretty sure that the bar is designed to be the weak link in the chain so to speak. Allows this to break instead of something major. Hopefully it was something binding and will be an easy fix.

Wow, the room is awesome! That slider is a monster and it looks like you could tow with the electric motor that "tried" to move it.
Any idea what caused the slide to hang up?
That was quite an outing, hope your future ones are a little more boring.

Thank you for the documentation and the invite in to your home. Your pictures give us an education and insight. Even tough we may not have the same model we get an idea of how these RV's are made and it satisfies our technical diet!
Anything more on the Turbo issue?

I too am curious as to what could cause a bind great enough to turn that square tube into a twizzler.
I hope it's a simple solution.

Agree as it had to be something upstream that caused the failure.
We bring it in tomorrow and will post updates when we get them.

Great slideshow, except for that mangled, twisted piece of metal!
