Which 5th wheel hitch do you prefer?

Hi guys looking for your opinions on a automatic slider hitch. Thinking of getting a fifth wheel soon. Going to buy a hitch to have on hand this way I'll be ready to pick up the unit when I find it.

B&W companion
Heavy SOB but you'll have the best hitch in the industry behind you. I'm glad I went that route.

PullRite for an autoslide, otherwise B&W. Had a PullRite and it worked but it was spendy and heavy, I have a B&W now and I am happy with it.

The only Automatics are Pullrite and Demco. Both make a similar hitch that mounts to the ISR(industry standard rails) Pullrite makes another that mounts to "pegs" that are removable and go thru bed to frame mounted brackets.
B&W, Cequent(Reese, drawtite, Hidden hitch) and Curt all make a manual slider that mounts to ISR.
B&W also makes the Companion Slider that mounts to its Turnoverball, under bed system.

After all that what tow vehicle are you using?

We just bought our first fifth wheel, and we went with the Pullrite Superglide. Our dealer recommended it and so far it has worked just as advertised. I was reluctant because of the price but the thought of being in a busy gas station and negotiating tight turns, the last thing I wanted to do was go out and pull the lever for a manually operated slider. Our truck is a 2016 Silverado with a 6.5' bed.

The Anderson folks should be here in a moment..... I think it's a cool design.

I've got a Curt A16 slider. Seems good. Not high end as hitches go, but does the job with minimal chucking.

I too have a Chevy with the 6.5 bed. When I activate the slider, I have to lower my tailgate enough to hang it on the tailgate cables or the top rear of the kingpin assembly hits. Not sure the auto sliders roll back as far or sit as low as my A16, but something to be aware of.

Anderson folks are here! I love mine and it works awesome. I have a short bed 2500 chevy and a FW 355 MBQS.

So far so good. I love the fact I can pull the pins and it's out in just a few minutes.

Good luck!

That's interesting TxLoser, I'm wondering if there may be a difference in year models that might cause this. I have a 2015 2500HD with the 6'7" bed. My Reese Titan 16K with Reese round tube slider doesn't hit the tailgate.

Pullrite. It works and I don't have to think about it which is worth the extra money to me.

Is your Anderson connected via rails or a factory puck system?

Pretty sure it hooks up with the gooseneck ball. No rails, or pucks, although you can buy safety chain hook ups for the pucks.

I have an Anderson in my future for a 3500 CCLB DRW.

I think that's the norm. They do have a rail version for those who've already had rails installed. However, I've never ready any feedback on that setup and was curious if anyone ran that setup.

Have the Andersen rail version, works pretty well. No chucking and hooking up is a breeze. No more jerk test to make sure it is locked into place. The fear of high hitch and coming lose is gone.

Can get a pretty decent turn in my ram short bed also. Not 90 but good enough for moving around campgrounds and stuff.

I've used a pullrite super glide for 11 years now. Highly satisfied with it and would recommend.

We've been in a lot of places we probably shouldn't have been, size wise, and I don't doubt that it has saved me from damage at least a couple times.

Rails. Works well so far. I really love how it's a breeze to hook up and disconnect.

My first truck came with a 15k Reese hitch. Never had any problems with it for 5 years. When I bought my last truck, I had a new DrawTite 16k installed. DrawTite bought Reese and they are the same.

Easy to use, very little maintenance. There are many to choose from now, 7 years ago not so many choices.

Pullrite is the best in my opinion. Plus you need to make sure the weight rating is ok. We bought a small 5er and bought a 12K hitch. Now my wife wants to get a bigger 5er so we did. My 12K hitch is big enough for the new camper plus pulling my boat trailer. Now I'm going to have to get a 16K hitch. Don't make the same mistake I did. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Check out Pullrite Hitches on U-Tube.
Happy hitch hunting Bud!!
