Winter cover question????

We are thinking about getting a cover for our HT 26.5 RLS fifth wheel and it has those little drains on each of the corners. Do the covers come with places that fit over those little drains or do you just have to put the cover on and hope nothing bad happens?

I have heard of people covering those with a cut tennis ball or a foam swimming pool noodle. We have decided not to cover. Good luck.

I used short pieces of foam pipe insulation. It's a lot like the pool noodles but it's hollow and slit lengthwise so it can be slipped over a pipe. Costs about a buck for a six foot length at Home Depot. Based on experience with our old cover, I put it over all the sharp corners (the places the old cover wore thru )and it took two six foot lengths. Seems to be working fine so far...no holes yet.

Sorry this doesn't answer your question about the gutter corners but it got me thinking about the cover we bought for our first 38' (SOB) fifth wheel. We bought a brand new cover, took it to the storage lot and opened it up...WOW, it was large! We (the DW and I) couldn't figure out how to get it up on the roof so we packed it up and sent it back to Amazon. Since then, no cover

I have tried tennis balls and pipe insulation. The tennis balls worked best, no problems with them wearing through the cover.

I had a similar experience to Troutslayer. I was given a cover by a friend who because of poor health was giving up rv-ing. Tried putting it on our 34 ft. 5-er and every time I tried, the wind would get ahold of it like large sail and either blow it under the front cap or skew it in some other manner, plus getting it up and over is no easy task. Finally gave up and gave it to my daughter. They gave up too and sold it in a yard sale.

I don't have a 5th, but i have put tennis balls on our drains last year. For the two that stayed on it seemed to work ok. I did without them this year and will see what happens. From what I can see, our cover doesn't seem to tight around the drains.

just covered mine with the same cover for 4th year with no protective accessories for the gutter extensions and have not seen any holes or any reason for concern .
To cover it I find the front of the cover and make sure it's right side out and stretch it out behind the trailer with the roof material in the center . Kind of looks like a 40ft. sidewalk leading away from the rear of the trailer. Then go up ladder and have someone on a step ladder hand me the front of the cover and I walk from the rear to the front of the trailer on the roof which creates a ribbon of fabric over the air conditioners up the center of the roof . Then I drop the front down and begin pulling the fabric sides out from the ribbon dropping it down each side while someone on the ground helps by pulling folds down equally on each side when I get to the rear the cover is on then climb down and secure with ropes . Do it on a calm day with very little wind because a mild breeze makes it much more difficult ,this all takes about a half hour .
Here in pa. we get some cold windy days in winter and the cover has never had to be repositioned or retied and I cover our 40 ft. 5th wheel and a 24ft. TT but I do have a mark or 2 where ropes have rubbed the bottom apron on the 5th wheel but I believe that is insignifficent compared to the effects of winter without the cover.
