Winterizing

Hello Everyone,
This year I winterized my camper by blowing out all the waterlines with my air compressor. I drained the water heater and bypassed it and then opened each faucet untill i had nothing but air. I left the low point halves open as well as each faucet, and dumped a little antifreeze in each trap. I hope it's ok next year. I really don't like filling the waterlines with antifreeze. It takes to long to flush it out, when I could be relaxing. Any thoughts?

Good morning... Where I live, we may get three hard freezes a winter. All I have done in the past is open all the valves inside the '08 Eagle (don't forget the shower) and both the low point drains on the outside. I also drain the hot water heater. Then I let gravity take care of the rest. This year I did buy one of those little attachments to blow out the lines with my air compressor. I've not drained any lines as of yet, I probably will not until a freeze is near.

On all my past RV's, the hot water heater has had a plastic or nylon drain or plug on the outside. This one does not. I assume I have to remove a panel down below to get to any drain. Surely it has one. Another thing new to me and not sure how to handle is the washer. We have a washer/gryer in this rig and I'm not sure how to go about making sure all the water in the hoses are drained. I hope that the pressure from the compressor will take care of that as well.

Where we live, we may get a couple of nights each winter where the temp dips below freezing. We've never "winterized" before, but have wondered if we should with the new Jay Flight. What's weird is that the "real feal" temp for the next to nights are supposed to be in the 20's (really unusual for November in our region). We are thinking of just turning on the heater and setting it to 40 degrees as we have the heated underbelly and DH thinks that will keep the pipes safe for the next two nights.

I done that to my old TT, just make sure to drain the water heater, and bi-pass it before blowing out the lines.

So far, the weather hasn't dipped as forecasted. Weather Man has changed the cold weather forecast daily for the better. It may just wait til January to freeze up afterall!

Yup, the propane use sucks, but for the few nights we drop below 32degrees, I'm anticipating it to be worth it for us. I'm glad we learned on the last trip that our first tank went empty! The first three weeks we traveled with the tt we used the heater quite a bit at night. At least we know we are starting with a full tank when we do fire it up!

I'm getting off topic here, but one more post about the LP gas. Lot's of folks recommend having the bottle change-over valve in the automatic position. I guess everyone has their different preferences. I prefer running ours in the manual mode. I like to know when that first bottle runs out so I can get it refilled right away. I keep a close eye on them.
