1,200 Miles NJ To FL

My wife and I recently purchased a 2015 Jayco Jay Flight 33RLDS. We have never camped at all . With that being said, we purchased this RV for living 6 winter months on the west coast of Sunny Florida. The other 6 months will be spent at home at the Jersey Shore.
This is all new to us, and already the forum has helped answer many questions and offered many tips on owning and caring for the RV. I am very handy and quick to pick up on how to do. Also, I drove Tractor Trailer for many years, so, pulling the trailer around will not be one of my issues.
My wife has already purchased many things for our new home away from home from November to May. We are looking forward to our new adventure.
Glad to be here

As stated in my (Hello From the Jersey Shore - Posted 9-10-16 above). After purchasing RV in April 2016 and having it in storage all that time and waiting all through the summer we finally left Friday 11-11-16 @ 9:30am for a six month stay in the West coast of Florida. Smooth sailing no issues no problems arrived Saturday at 12.30pm with several stops for fuel and a three hour stop in a rest area on 95 in Florida .
Got approximately 9 miles to the gallon on the 2015 F250 6.2 while traveling 65-75 miles an hour at times. The E4 weight distribution & anti sway bar worked great. Got to the RV park and backed into my spot and checked RV for any problems or issues (A screw for the knob to open rear roof vent fell out that was it) set up for the first time with the new Jay flight (Piece of cake). We have been in it a week and everything works perfect as it should and the people in the park we have met in the pool and club house are very friendly and of course weather is very comfortable.
Just figured I would update everyone on our NEW adventure.
John & Janice

Slow down a bit bud.. your tires are only rated to 65 mph MAX. Blowouts are not fun.

What he said... Plus, many find their OEM tires to be low quality trailer tires.

Glad things are going so well for you and 'newbies' too!

Congrats on your adventure! I would love to know if you have any suggestions for a campground in Jersey that is close to Great Adventure and the beach. Planning a trip for the summer.

Good deal, enjoy the winter! 9 mpg towing at those speeds is pretty nice! My diesel gets me abut 12.5 on a similar trip from Maryland to Florida.

I am with the others, slow down. There a lot of places to stop and see things. We now take three days to cover 1,000 miles. No stress and lots of stops!
Your tires will last a lot longer and ride safer if you cover them in that hot Florida sunshine.

Enjoy!

First of all I want to thank everyone for their Congrats & Living the dream !!!

A little background, Wife & I would rent a condo on the gulf for a month to six weeks in January into February for the last three years than have to go back to NJ with the cold & snow to finish out the winter . It would cost us approximately $3,000 - $4,000 for that period of time and it would be higher if you stayed longer. (Did not want to purchase) So we decided if we wanted to stay longer this would be the only way to stay for six months and go back to NJ for the summer six months.
The RV park we are set up in is that we stay for six months straight (Our choice Nov - May than I leave the RV here for the other six months for a flat rate. So I don't have to move it off the sight and tow it back to NJ where I have to pay for storage there as well.
As for being away from home & family (Home has security & camera system & wifi thermostat that I can view & control from here) and with family we talk every couple days and they are very happy we are able to do it

Congratulations Whistler - I get about 9.5 from Maryland to Florida. I would probably get a little better but I'm always chasing Spoon... (I can't compete with his Ram!)
Where are you on the west coast?

Ditto on the speed. You're retired now, take it slow and inspect those tires often.

We love the west coast of central Fl. and go there every year but not for as long. Those pics look like a resort in Crystal River. Am I wrong?
