12 volt dc problem

Hello All!

Just joined this forum five minutes ago and my appologies but my first post is a request for help. Picked up a new Jayco Hummingbird last friday, towed it to my shop, pluged it in, tested everything, installed a tv and lefted it there for the week. This evening i hooked up to it and thought the battery was dead when the tong jack would not work. I plugged it in to the truck and everything operated normaly so i figured i did somthing to drain the battery. When i got home i pluged in the 110vac to charg the battery went back a few hours later checked with a meter and the battery is charged but if i disconect the 110v and the charger converter turns off no 12 volts from the battery. I assuming i am doing somthing wrong. Is there a main fuse or disconect that i do not know about? Does anyone have a 12v drawing for the hummingbird?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Larry

There should be an inline fuse close to the battery positive terminal.
The drain was probably from the CO/propane detector.

Do you have a battery switch installed?

Check the ground side where the wire is bolted to the frame. RV Manufacturers are famous for painting the frame then bolting the ground wire to the painted surface. The bolt makes contact on the treads for a while, but a little corrosion sets in (doesn't take long) and you loose your ground.

I'm not that familiar with a Hummingbird but if it has a power distribution/fuse panel there are also fuses in there to protect the unit from accidental reverse polarity. Those could also have blown.

Also check both poles on the circuit breaker ensuring you have 12 volt + going in and out... May have a short that is keeping the circuit breaker tripped. Mine went bad due to a poor connection and fried the breaker. Ended up having to replace it.

I just picked up a 2017 White Hawk and there is a 30 amp inline fuse down by the 12 volt junction box just behind the battery on the frame, if that is blown you will have no battery power.

Thanks everyone, problem solved

Thank you all!

The problem was a in line fuse... Not sure exactly why it has a curcuit breaker and a fuse in line but i did find the fuse to be open. You all saved me a three hour round trip to the dealer.

Thank You and Happy Holidays!

Larry.

I replaced all that fusing mess with a simple waterproof resetable breaker. It also takes the place of a battery disconnect.
Here is the 30amp model, there is also a 50amp version
