12v dc plug

Have a 2014 jay flight swift with a 12v dc plug by the tv which is only rated for 60 watts. I have a 1000 watt inverter and was wondering if anyone knows how to upgrade the dc plug to obtain enough wattage to run my tv and blue ray player while dry camping, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

IMO, to supply power for that inverter, you'll need to be sure the wiring and fuse for that circuit can handle the current in addition to the plug.
What (watt ) about a smaller inverter? How much power does your tv and blue-ray play need?

Hello. and welcome to the forum!

I am assume you are referring to the 12vdc "receptacle" with the tv amplifier? If so, the associated wiring is probably too small to carry the load you need. A better solution would be to run heavy gauge, properly fused wire (12awg?) close to the tv and then connect the 1000 watt inverter.
Just my opinion, YMMV

I was considering something similar & decided to check with Jayco, their reply:

The 12V in the TV area is also rated at 15AMP but the ANTENNAE, RADIO, LP DETECTOR, T.V. are also connected to that outlet. Keep that in mind for which ever outlet you decide to use for the inverter.

Wish I had more storage compartments for better options for inverter install along with hard wired EMS unit.

I was thinking of replacing the stock wire with a heavier duty wire and fuses to the same outlet. Think it would work?

I would mount the High Wattage POWER Inverter as close as possible to the battery terminals and still be inside out of the bad weather conditions.

Then you can run 120VAC DROP CORDs to where ever you need the 120VAC...

A 1000 Watt Power Inverter will want to draw around 80-90AMPS DC Current when loaded down...

Like said above a much smaller Power Inverter is only needed to just run a TV. Something in the 150WATT range which would pull 12-15AMPS of DC current when fully loaded down..

Even doing this I still don't think I would want to mess with your 12V DC Connector. If you blow that circuit who knows what else gets affected...

Its just as easy to connect the Power Inverter directly to the battery terminals then you can run the 120VAC Cables any distance you need to. No losses in the cables doing it this way.

I use one of those Power Strips that has an ON-OFF switch on them and I have run two drop cords - One to the Home Entertainment area andthe other one back to my bed area night stand... My Power Inverter is a 600WATT PSW type from Amazon ($159) and is always on... The only time it goes OFF is when i do my battery Disconnect when not in use.

This may be a silly question, but since I am relatively new to the whole RV world I'll ask anyway. What is that DC plug there for? I don't see any cords that come from the tv that I could plug into it.

In mine, with its proximity to the antenna connection etc., I assumed it was for 12v DC televisions or inverters.

The Jayco rep that I contacted said it was for low voltage applications much like the plug in your vehicle

That makes sense. I was assuming because of the location that it was related to the tv. We don't use the tv much. In fact, we have wanted to spin it around and watch tv in our bed but I can't figure out how to get the volume to come from the tv rather than the speakers in the kitchen area. Are there any tricks for this?

have you tried unplugging the audio out from the back of the tv?

No. I only briefly tried to find the release buttons to access the back of the tv but couldn't find it. With that said, I didn't try very hard or long.

Try turning off the AUX input on the radio.

That should do it
