2008 jayflight 26bh a/c help

Just got done with camping and on day 2 of camping my a/c froze up.

I closed 3 of 4 vents because I was freezing my young ones out could that of been my problem?
After unthawing the coils I opened vents and occasionally turned on just to keep cool with no problems.

Also i don't understand why the a/c constantly runs. there is a thermostat for the furnace but I only see the knobs for the ac.

Does it have controls on the ac or just the therm.

As for running constantly. That's why it's freezing. It's not working well enough. Closing the vents isn't the problem unless you are causing the thermostat to never get cold.

If the freeZing and running a lot. You are possibly low on coolant.

Had the same issue (if it matters at all) with my home unit. constantly running and freezing up. The contactor was arc welded closed making the compressor stay "on" constantly and the fan would never kick on to pull the air through the coil thus the freeze up. See if your outside fan that pushes air thru the coil is running. if not then you need to find out why (dead fan motor, starting cap bad, etc..)

I have a newer 26BH and the thermostat works in both the A/C and furnace mode. Is the compressor running continuously or just the blower? I have a setting that allows for the blower to either run continuously or just kick on and off with the compressor similar to how my A/C at home works. I typically keep it on that setting. If you were to have it on the continuous setting the blower may be running continuously.

As for why it is freezing up, during my walk-through I remember the dealer saying something about making sure not to close too many vents or the A/C can freeze up so that could be the problem.. Not enough air flow over the coils causes it to freeze up. Or as was already mentioned, you may be low on coolant.. Which shouldn't happen unless there is a leak in the system somewhere.. I would also check the air filter to be sure it isn't dirty.

If you are experiencing freeze ups check your AC filter.

Odds are it needs to be cleaned.

Is there something else to do or check with the thermostat that I'm missing?
