Question 2012 298RES Eagle Super Lite

Hi all...
Looking at the 2012 298RES and was wondering if anyone who may have one can tell me if there are TV hookups, or a place to put a TV in the bedroom at all. Doesn't really show on the floorplans.

Also, any suggestions, complaints or comments on that particular TT would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike

Does anybody know what is behind the decal that says to mount the TV there?

I believe you can only get this model from current dealer stock. The 308RETS supercedes the 298RES. We put in an offer for 298RES from the factory last fall only to be informed that they weren't making any more. We went w/ the 308RETS and love it.

You could use a "stud finder" to see that you hit the right spot. I'm sure the sticker is just slapped on there.

Hmm, aren't these some sort of aluminum studs in this model? I would be a little hesitant to drill or drive anything into these (not knowing much about them). Also, aren't they thinner than the wooden studs they put in the other Jayco models (like the Jay Flights)?

I just put a TV in my 2011 298RES. I called Jayco and they recommend #10x3/4" or #10x1"
screws for mounting. There is plywood between the studs to support the TV. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I am aware that this is a "discontinued" model. The exact unit I am looking at was used twice by people who enjoyed camping so much that they're upgrading their TV and getting a large 5th wheel. Between that, and it being discontinued, I'm thinking I'm going to get a pretty sweet deal.

When using the stud finder, you can tell the location of a wide panel behind the wall, in the general area of the sticker. You get an indication when moving over a wide area, instead of a "blip" for a stud. This also allows you to judge the edges of that wider indication area.

Sorry for opening up a old issue...but I figured I'd add what I did with our 2011 298RES.
I didn't like where the TV mount was placed because once you mount the TV...you hit it every time you walk by it because no matter what mount you use, it will stick out pretty far.
So, based on a 22" LG LED TV we had for the house that weighed only 7lbs and is only about 1in thick, I thought of an idea to use the 3M Command Strip hooks.

What I did was put 2 of the large (5lb) hooks on wall so the bottom of the TV was higher up...eye level almost.
Then i put 2 more picture mounting command strips (5lbs each with very small hooks for wire) higher up and spaced them aproximately the same distance appart so that they'd match the VESA mounting holes on the TV.
From there, I added 1 more hook to the very top so I could literally hang the power adapter so it was out the way.

To mount the TV, I used 2 6" steel fishing leaders that were bolted to the top 2 VESA mounting holes on the TV and hooked them on the 2 picture mount strips at the top (8in leaders will give it a bit more tilt. Then placed the TV on the 2 bottom hooks which worked perfectly because the TV had vents on the bottom of it for heat disipation.
Now the TV is about a 1.5ft above the factory TV mounting area and has a slight tilt for better viewing.
Total cost...about $20 and totally simple to install and remove the TV when travelling without putting holes in the wall.
Greatest part...the TV is solid and shows no sign of falling off the wall because all the hooks are supporting the TV. The other really cool part is that when we don't take the TV...I have hooks to hang a towel or jacket up just in case I need to

If you want, I can get some Pics to show...best mod I've done thus far (granted it's the ONLY mod i've done. Hehe)
