2013 Crew Cab 5.3 3.42 Ratio HD factory tow package.

Towing an Eagle 314 BDS with this truck out of the question? Looking into buying one. Going to use a friends for a weekend but the weights seem close to the towing capacity of 9600 lbs. If I am looking correctly at the dry weights of the trailer it is 8200 lbs.
Any info would be great.

If the dry weight of the TT is in fact 8,200lbs, IMO under loaded conditions the TV you described would have difficulty towing the TT, most likely exceeding one or more specified weight limits. Also, the 3.42 gear ratio isn't an ideal gear for towing a heavy TT.

Thanks Bob. I always want something I can't have. Can you point me in a good direction to a good TT to get into? There are so many to chose from. Need to get the best unit I am able to pull with the TV I have.

I agree with Bob on this, I do not think you would be happy with that combo and would likely run out of payload on the truck. Have you looked at the Whitehawk line? They are considerably lighter. And welcome to the forum!

Bob and Crabman are spot on. My TV is a 7.3 Powerstroke with a 4.10 ratio, my TT was just over 8k dry, well over 9k loaded, and even though I've got a 15 to 20% tow weight margin, at times I consider chipping it for more hp. Also, you don't mention the class of your hitch. Make sure you've got a hitch that can handle the tongue weight.

It has a class 5 hitch. Just looking at the best TT I can get for a familey of 4 and not go out and buy a new TV.

I would suggest looking at TT's with a dry weight in the region of 6,000 lbs..... or maybe less.

I have the one in my signature and we towed it about 4,000 miles last summer alone. Did very well, it was at its LIMITS in the mountains on I-40 going through Arizona. My trailer is about 5800 lbs dry and has a gvwr of 7500 lbs. My truck does the job and it is fine for lake trips and such but on longer trips it gives me more time to think about a diesel.....

My TT has a dry weight from the factory of 8380lbs. Loaded to camp it is closer to 9400lbs. With a TT of this size you will need a 3/4 ton TV.

Sounds heavy and will need to see about getting something in the 4800 to 5000 dry weight. What rear end is in your truck?

White Hawk 29SQB has similiar floorplan and is 2100 lbs lighter. Lots of folks on this forum seem quite happy with their White Hawks
With your 3.42 rear axle, your truck will be working very hard in the mountains even with this model.

Hey everybody. I have the same truck but a 2011. I just picked up my first jayco today a 2011 eagle 322 fks. I had absolutely no problem towing it. In fact I had more trouble towing my trade in a 2004 homestead settler which is ligher but more boxy. I don't know if its good for the truck but at 2100 rpm at 110 kmh on flat and anywhere from 3 to 3500 rpm on hills I think it's okay.
