2014 338 RETS Paint is fading already on front

We have a 2014 338 RETS Eagle. We LOVE it. New problem, the paint is fading horribly on the top of the front of the RV. I thought I saw someone else had a similar issue months ago, but I can't find the post. We are going to call Jayco tomorrow and find out what is going on.

For those with questions about towing and weight distribution hitches. The dealer recommended the best weight and sway control Reese made. The 338 RETS is 39 feet long. With the system the dealer put on, she towed like a drunken sailor going down the highway. We tried a half dozen solutions, none made the towing situation better. It was time to take the bull by the horns. I searched the internet for varied sway controls. Two gave money back guarantees against sway. That speaks volumes to me. Pro-Pride Hitch and Hensley Arrow.
The cost for either was about 2-3 times what the reese hitch system was but where my family's safety is concerned, I wasn't willing to save a dime on the tow system. I purchased the Pro-Pride Hitch, and let me tell you, It pulls better than my old 5th wheel. It changes the axis (pivot point) of your trailer and makes it stable. Worth every penny!!! If anyone wants a Reese Hitch with Sway Control let me know. I will make you a deal on it. It has only been used 4 times.

We have a 2013 White Hawk we bought in 2014 and the front cap is faded a little. It now sits inside our shop and the fade is not getting any worst. I used some rubbing compound that helped some but it still shows. I may need to talk to the dealer.

Our '13 5th was fading on the top edge and the faded area was working its way downs do was looking pretty sad. It's at the dealer as I type getting a repainted of the front cap. We think we can pick it up next Sat. This has been an on-going issue for Jayco and they seem to be stepping up real nicely on these. I'll report back after we pick it up with a full report. I read that many TT manufacturers are seeing this. My cap is what I call a "mocha" color and I think the "high end colors" is at the root cause.

Well I have a 2015 338 and mine doesn't look to have started fading yet but with the snow and cold weather I haven't been able to get up high to look at it yet .... Dark color gel oat just fails so quickly in the sun .... I would think it would be cheaper for jayco just to have someone spray them before they are ever installed ... But good to see they are stepping up so far and refinishing them... Wonder how long that will last ?

Did you get yours back yet? What did they do to fix it?

We picked up the 5th with a fresh painted front cap last weekend and it looks great. Hopefully it will hold up. Jayco picked up the tab and I one again sing their praises. He gel-coat front caps just haven't held up. Kudos to Jayco for stepping up!

Thanks for the update, Jayco is doing the same for us. Just waiting for the dealer to schedule the dates. Like you said, hopefully the paint job will hold up. We have been very happy with our Eagle.

The gel-coat on my 2013 Eagle TT is holding up great! I waxed it a couple of months ago, and it's still nice and shiny! A neighbor down the way, however, has same year (different model) and the whole top of his cap is not just faded, but oxidized - right at the top bend. I told him about how Jayco was stepping up and repainting most of them, and suggested he get it into his dealer before the warranty is up. So far, he hasn't done anything about it. But they're full-timers, too, and leaving it at a dealer for several days/weeks is an expensive option for us full-timers. Time will tell.

It took a while to get it back. I suspect there were several back-n-forth between Jayco and our dealer before they gave the go-ahead. Then the decals had to be printed/shipped. Then the painter had to get scheduled.....
In all they had it 9 weeks. We were starting to worry about getting it back in time for our short trip next weekend with our g'son (oh yeah, his parents too). Picked it up last Sat, this weekend is Easter (house full of family) so it all worked out smoothly.
Cap looks great, shouldn't have happened in the first place - but it did. I think this has been a pretty big thorn in Jayco's paw and they continue to have fallout over it but I'm happy that they're stepping up to make it right.
We went to the Hou RV show this year and I was drooling over all the new shiny rigs. Felt like we climbed in and out of a 1000 of em. But I'm happy to report that I didn't see anything I liked better than what we already have. And now that the front cap looks like it should I'm a happy little camper (well, maybe not so little).

Wow I hope it doesn't take that long ( 9 Weeks), we already have some trips planned. The dealer did say they ordered the decals, just hope the schedule will be soon.

Brownie, Tell your neighbor to call, it will be worth it, if they are full timers maybe insurance will help supplement the cost of the time they are without the trailer or even Jayco.

Will keep things updated as we get ours taken care of.

Glad Spring is here!!

Yeah, we dropped it off without any pre-work (ordering decals). It was early in the year, no trips on the immediate horizon so no prob. I didn't raise a stink w the dealer because I wanted it done right and not necessarily fast. In the end the schedule was tight but it worked. Sounds like you got a jump on the process so hopefully things will go smooth.

Well, we dropped off the trailer to the dealer today. They said they would have the decals this week and it would go to the paint shop too.
I feel that our dealer will do this repair right and glad Jayco is helping out.

Our 2014 361REQS is in the shop now getting the cap painted. The body shop manager at the RV dealer told me he sees this problem with fading with several manufactures. They just started selling Jayco so they have not seen many Jaycos yet.

Jayco had so many problems with the dark brown caps fading, somewhere around the end of last summer, they changed from dark brown to a cream color on the front caps on their 2015 models.

We got ours back and they did a nice job on the repaint. The dealer also was very accommodating it getting it back to us for the Memorial day weekend.
