The more I look at the 27BHS, the more I think it's the perfect trailer. I think I can make due with my 1/2 ton until I trade up next time. I'm hoping we don't find it discontinued for 2018. I know so many opt for the 28BHDS, but that's a bit heavy for a 1/2 ton in my opinion, and I need the 80" bed the 27BHS has. Now, thinking about ordering one this late fall with the table and chairs and hideabed options.

I think you are correct. We looked at the 28 but couldn't justify spending extra money for basically an extra door and no outdoor kitchen. The 27BHS is a fantastic trailer.

I guess I do have a complaint about it's design. I wanted to convert my two 12v, type 24, batteries to a two 6v system. The problem is that the nose of the TT comes out too far and you can't have a two 6v battery system. The batteries are just too tall for the TT nose. I've seen here some mods where the person dropped the battery rack to accommodate the 6 v ers. You basically have to weld up a totally new rack that hangs down 3-4 inches. It's a project that most folks will have to farm out to a real welder.

Other than that all's good.

It does swivel but now I'm wishing I had the pull-out & swivel as it's not practical for 2 people to watch tv from the couch :-(
I looked more closely and it does indeed swivel out just enough for the wife and I to sit together and enjoy a movie.
I think the only real complaint I have is there isn't enough room to change clothes except in the main living room. The bedroom is a bit too packed with the nice queen size bed and the bathroom is definitely to small to change. I'm fortunate that it's just me and the wife that goes camping!
Also wish I had bigger holding tanks for potable water & Grey water, but hey, can't have everything, especially on my budget

Smile 27bhs

We got a 2017 BHS last May. It has been a great camper for us. We have grandkids that love to camp. My favorite feature is the outside kitchen. I cook outside all the time. The full size Queen bed is nice for the length as I'm 6-1. As for problems, there has been very few and dealer fixed them. I haven't seen another model that can compare to fit our needs.

That is a good point.. One I'm dealing with currently too.

Good excuse to learn how to weld I guess. Camping World quoted me an outrageous price to fabricate a new battery tray. More than it will cost me to buy a decent welder, gear, and angle iron. About once a year I wish I had one. I guess this will be the excuse I needed to finally pull the trigger on it.

I'm going to practice making dorky things around the house before I touch my camper with a welder, but it's a pretty simple project.

Does anyone know how big the water tank is on the potable water in my 2016 27BHS?
I looked in the manual and could not find the answer?
Also wondering if the grey & black tanks are the same capacity?
Thanks

Fresh Water Capacity 76 gals
Grey Water Capacity 39 gals
Black Water Capacity 39 gals

The fresh water tank is actually 2 individual tanks, that are connected so they act as one tank.

We have to be careful to not overflow the grey tank since that's probably where 80% of the water we use ends up. I do wish the grey tank was a little larger.

One more reason to have a home depot bucket - you can dump out of your grey tank into that, and then dump the bucket down the toilet, but that's kind of a pain.

We pick up our new 27BHS next Thursday. We ordered it on 1/24/17 and have been anxiously awaiting word from the dealer ever since. Now that the day is almost here, I find that I still have a lot of little things to do to be ready. We're camping in it for 10 days starting the day we pick it up.

As for the bike rack situation, I've been looking at this too for some time and I think I decided to go with something like this...

I didn't want to have to make any modifications to the rear of the camper and I've read that the ladder mounted racks aren't especially good for your camper either. This one makes the most sense for us, but we'll only have two bikes on it.

My manual reads that the bumper is only warranted for 100 lbs and the spare tire takes up half of that. I was quoted a price at the dealership for $350 to modify the rear bumper for a bike rack and now I wish I had taken them up on it!

Here are a few things I bought for camping:
a bathroom rug to not slip on my butt as the linoleum is very slippery when getting out of shower.
90* angle for city water hookup
water pressure regulator for city water
75' of water hose and plan to add another 50' for when I need to use potable water
30' electric extension cord - only used it once but was glad I had it - after disconnecting the truck I realized I was 1' short
Electric Surge Protector
30 amp to 50 amp adapter for campsites that only have 50 amp plug-in
water filter even though we use bottled water for cooking/drinking
wheel blocks (not sure what they are called)
You will also need alot of 4"x4" and/or concrete blocks for the stabilizer jacks
for tongue jack

I finally found the information in the "brochures" on the jayco.com website for 2016 page 11.
44 gal of fresh water (including 6 gal of hot water heater - meaning tank is 38 alone)
and as said before 39 for black & 39 for grey.
The option for 2nd tank is 82 gal.

44 total with 6 gallons in hot water tank, that leaves holding tank with 38

Part of the reason I bought the elite package was the sealed underbelly but when I found out I had 80 gallons of fresh water!!!!! Our last trailer had something like 40 gallons or less. Always running out.

Yah, now I realize how important that is!
I also didn't know so many State Parks ( as well as other places) don't offer your own water hookup.
Now I find myself gravitating towards full hookup more than I like the admit

That's too bad. You could always put a med/large plastic barrel or tank in the back of the truck and refill the one fresh water tank in the trailer. That may be an easy solution.
