26BH Awning - Wet Weather

Hi,

I am brand new to this, and am seeking some opinions from those with experience.

We had our first trip out with our new (to us) 2013 Jay Flight 26BH, returning Aug 5th. On our last day, it rained, and my awning got wet. I had to roll it up wet, and the put our TT in storage until our next outing at the end of the month.

Am I going to damage my awning doing this?

Cheers,
Corey

It will not damage the awning but it will grow mold and mildew pretty quickly. I use a small garden sprayer filled with Camco awning cleaner and clean mine a few times a season. Use a deck brush to knock down heavier build-ups.

Mine gets wet while it's rolled up in storage because of rain. I try not to stand under it while deploying it during setup. I do clean it twice a year with the Dawn/bleach mixture and that helps keep the mold/mildew down.

no damage will occur. Water migrates into the awning when it is rolled up anyways, so do not fret about keeping it dry. Once a season or so, I will spray mine with a product called "Spray Power" (full strength), roll up the awning for 30 minutes or so. Un roll it, scrub it with my car wash brush, rinse it off, hopefully let it dry and call it good. Don't stand under the awning when opening it with an open drink, it might get a little awning rain water in it.

When I got mine it sat for 6 months in storage and when I got it home it was soaked! No mold just dirt from rain didn't look bad at all but after I cleaned it I noticed a big differance.
