2nd AC prep but no vent
I recently purchased a 2015 338RETS and it is prepped for a second AC, but there is not a vent in the bedroom. Has anyone cut this out and installed an ac? The ac installation looks easy, but I want to know exactly what I am doing and where exactly to cut before I decide if I am brave enough to cut it out myself.

Cant say, my 318 has the 2nd unit. Jayco won't send out diagrams until its out of warranty so hard to day. Might be something a dealer/repair place would need to do.

Jayco sent me the scematics for the roof trusses and ducting just a little bit ago. So now it's just a matter of whether I am feeling brave enough to do the cutting. Shouldn't be too hard I would imagine.

I might find someone with an endoscope inspection camera and look around up there before I get out the Sawzall. At least that would only require a 3/8" hole to see what's up there.

you could get the camera in through the speaker hole it not far from the ac location i have the 2nd unit in my unit and its great to get things cooled down quicker well worth the expense

From my previous RV projects I would start inside just to be on the safe side, probably with a 3" hole saw so you can feel around for the wiring before cutting out the 14" section. If you are handy at all and normally do similar home projects it will be an easy project. Hardest part is getting the a/c up on the roof.

Prepped for second AC should be a stupid vent installed and wiring. So all they do is wiring?

Yeah, no vent. Just wiring that runs into a plastic box that is flush mounted on the ceiling (about the side of an outlet). I can easily get a borescope and pull out the box on the ceiling that the wires run into and look around. I pulled it out the other day to look in there, but all I see is insulation. But now the the scematics, I think I will do it myself in about a month when I get a break from work.

I will let you know how easy or how big of a pain it is. Contemplating installing some slide toppers myself as well (have never done any of this myself). Just not sure if I need to add the railing on the side or if I can use the existing one already on the camper that is already installed on both sides at the edge of the roof. Where the awning in mounted, that runs the entire length on both sides. Just don't know if it will be too high up to use. I would imagine it runs the length on both sides for a reason. .....

I don't remember for sure but I think the install instructs for my slide topper said the rail could not be more than 4" above the center of the roller. I think if it's too high there is a possibility for wind to get under it while towing. I'm sure the install instructs for the topper you're looking at will specify the rail height. It wasn't a big job but did take a little time.
