30 amp adapter ?

Which adapter would you recommend for adapting from a 30amp service at the campsite? 15 amp or 20 amp. Also, who makes the best one? Thanks

Are you wanting a 30 amp male to 15/20 amp female? Or a 15/20 male to 30 amp female?

15 amp and 20 amp are configured the same. The best is the "dog bone" type. For a 30 amp male to 15 amp female the "hockey puck" type will be fine. As far a brand quality they are all about equal.

30 amp male to 15 or 20 amp female. I don't have a 30 amp service at home. I need to convert it to use an extension cord. Also, what gauge wire, extension cord, is minimum to hook up the camper at home. Thanks

What you are describing would require a 15 amp male to 30 amp female adapter. You should use the dog bone type. Use a 12 gauge extension cord. Run should not be more than 25 feet if you run the air conditioner. With a 15/20 amp service you will be able to run everything except the air conditioner. The air conditioner can be run but only when nothing else is in use.

I run a 12 gauge 50' cord from my garage into the 30' rv cord with a hockey puck adaptor. It will run my 15k ac with no problem. This is from a 20 amp circuit.

I don't do this, but I can do it. I j normally use this setup to keep my battery charged year around and to run the two fridges in my trailer.

You may not be getting full voltage with that long a run, and especially with two frigs and an AC running...along with everything else in the background...
