314BDS fresh water fill location

Hello -

Can anyone tell me why the fresh water fill is on the opposite side then all the other "connections" including the hose connection for city water?

Thanks,

Mark

It is on the other side because Jayco put it there. My guess is that the water fill is on that curbside of the trailer since the kitchen sink and bathroom are on the curb side.

I have said more than once that who ever designs these things probably has never used one. Over the years I have just shook my head and moved on...

mine is right next to my entrance and the water gets all over the steps when I fill the fresh water. It would be better on the back.

I was looking at a used trailer and the hot water , furnace was on the awning side and right where one would sit and relax. I said to myself I sure hope a new RV' er does not get stuck with this one.

That makes sense except for the fact that the city water fill is on the opposite side (yes I know that is the side where the site hookups are).

I asked them to put it there so I wouldn't be using it instead of the city water connection.

I agree 100%. Plus I will add whoever designs them also knows he will never have to work on them. Reducing the production costs will always trump layout and ease of servicing.

The city fill does not have a tank and having it on the road side of the trailer when camping makes sense. You would have to run a water hose around to the curbside of the trailer if the city water hookup was on the curbside. Also city water line is just a water line coming into the trailer. My guess is that the fresh water tank is on the curb side so they added the fill for that on the curbside.

There was a PU with a great floorplan that had a shower/cassette toilet. Instead of putting the water fill and the opening to pull the black water tank on the outside of the PU, they put them on the inside. That meant you had to dump the cassette while popped up, and if you spilled water filling the tank it would be inside the PU. I was really looking at buying that PU and the cassette toilet situation changed my mind.
