The city fill does not have a tank and having it on the road side of the trailer when camping makes sense. You would have to run a water hose around to the curbside of the trailer if the city water hookup was on the curbside. Also city water line is just a water line coming into the trailer. My guess is that the fresh water tank is on the curb side so they added the fill for that on the curbside.
There was a PU with a great floorplan that had a shower/cassette toilet. Instead of putting the water fill and the opening to pull the black water tank on the outside of the PU, they put them on the inside. That meant you had to dump the cassette while popped up, and if you spilled water filling the tank it would be inside the PU. I was really looking at buying that PU and the cassette toilet situation changed my mind.
