31bhds black tank question

We are very new to owning an RV, and have purchased a 2005 31BHDS that we have placed on a year around site on the Outer Banks, in North Carolina. My question comes from looking at the tank monitor my black tank never goes below 1/3 even though I know that it is empty (we have it hard piped into the site sewer connection). I know that a piece of paper, or anything caught on one of the sensors will cause this to happen, and I have bought a tank wand to spray the tank out. But it seems that the tanks wand does not go all the way into the tank, just wondering if there is a trap just below the toilet on this model or not. I looked at it with a flashlight, but could not really tell. Hoping that someone has a better knowledge of this than I do. Sorry to be so long winded, but trying to cover all aspects of the problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the forum. I also own a 31 BHDS and you will find that this model will give you a lot of room. As far as the wand going into the tank, you should be able to hit the bottom of the tank with it. There might be some clog in the down pipe which would keep you from hitting bottom. Most of the wand will be in the tank. When you turn on the water, you will hear the spinning spray hitting the bottom of the tank. At that point, I lift mine up off of the bottom of the tank.

Recommend you have a clear plastic connection on the sewer hose to verify when contents have emptied.
