32 Bhds Questions

Does anyone have the elite package? Is it worth the extra money for the larger fridge and pillow top mattress?
Is there any advice or suggestions about buying a 32 bhds. Any suggestions on pricing?
Thanks again

Our 32bhds has elite package. It includes: 8 cu ft Refrigerator, Hardwood Refrigerator Insert, Pillowtop Mattress, Power Tongue Jacks and Aluminum Rims. This is my first TT and don't really know any different. This is moons above tent camping, so I'm very happy! I admit that I noticed (right away) the hardwood fridge insert & aluminum rims. I know my hubby likes the power tongue jack.

For pricing go to RV Direct's website, build a TT with all the options you want and then get a quote from them. Once you see their price you can shop local. I saved lots with RV Direct and picked my TT up at their dealership in Albany, NY

When I purchased mine it was already at the dealer lot and saved money vs. ordering one but, it did not have elite package or thermal package. Every other option was there.
What I have done since I bought it is: Install electric jack. I didn't want electric stab jacks because my cordless drill is way faster and cheaper. I will throw that piece of junk matresss out as soon as I find a good memory foam one. I weigh 260lb and that mattress is like laying on wires. I have the reg. fridge but also I have one outside and I was camping for 5 days with 5 people and didnt fill up both of them. As far as the thermal package I do all my own work even when it's under warranty because I just dont trust anyone but me to do the work and the enclosed underbelly just makes more work to get to things so I didn't care about that either. Just my 2 cents

We have the 2011 32BHDS and elite package was not an option.

x2 what Preston said about the 2 fridges working well for most families, so I don't know if the 8c.f. indoor fridge is absolutely needed.

Electric Tongue Jack is a couple hundred bucks and easy 15min project.

Adding a 4in memory foam topper is easy and probably cheaper.

The Thermal Package really depends on your region of the country:
--in our Texas heat it definitely helps the 15K A/C to keep us cool, plus the enclosed belly allows for peace of mind for our late season trips that briefly drop below freezing (floor heat ducts partially warm enclosed floor and pipes).

You can never have too big of a refrigerator in a camper.

When we ordered our 32BHDS there was not a larger fridge available. We are a family of 6 and the fridge was big enough. When we are camping for more than 3 days we always plan a trip to the supermarket so we do not need to load the fridge with a weeks worth of groceries. Also using coolers for all beverages is a good idea.

I actually prefer the smaller fridge because it leaves a pantry next to it. With the larger fridge, you lose the cabinet space. Having a second fridge really helps out because you can keep snacks and drinks out there and only keep the real food inside.

We still have the pantry next to the 8c. Coming from a tent (and lots of coolers), we're in 7th heaven having 2 fridges for our party of 5. We take it out Easter weekend for its inaugural camping trip. We're traveling with a family of 4, who still use a tent, and based on overnight weather, we may has many as 9 in our 32bhds. Not sure I can endure that for 4 nts.

Sounds like you may get a chance to really break it in with that many people. You've got guts, I do not know if I would want to take out another family on the first run (need time to work out kinks). Have a fun trip!

From "Jaws" and one of the most famous quotes in movie history, "We`re gonna need a bigger boat". Well this may be "We`re gonna need a bigger trailer! :hihi:

I just hope it's warm enough for them to tent it overnight. It was one of those conversations where I said what we were doing and she said that sounded fun and said they'd like to come. Next thing I knew, we're going together!! I did have to tell her that her hubby couldn't chew tobacco in the camper and they'd have to leave the Golden Retriever outside. I love dogs, but with 9 people, plus a huge, hairy dog would definitely put me over the edge!

Thanks for the info

We ended up buying the one with without the elite package. I agree about the buying a mattress topper plus we have a fridge in the outdoor kitchen and we are keeping our camper on a permanent camp site so we have a fridge on the deck.

My 32BHDS has a yellow sticker stating with full 30 lb propane tanks, battery and all accesories installed at the factory it weighs 8605 lbs. Ready to camp it weighs almost 9500lbs. Its a big camper. I just wish my Excursion had a tow rate greater than 9600lbs.

Do you have any problems with the way your Excursion handles it? Mine feels like it's hardly there.

Only when going up big hills. All the way to Disney and the way back I had no problem keeping up with traffic.

This will be our second weekend camping with our 2012 32bhds. we love it! we're currently towing it with our 04 Ram 1500 w/ 5.7l. we're in southwest Michigan so it mostly flat with small hills. mileage is crappie, but tows fine. no intentions of pulling it through the mountains until we get a bigger truck.

My yellow sticker said 8300lbs from the factory, but that didn't include propane or battery. I weighed it last summer on the way to a three day trip, and it tipped the scales at 9620lbs. The F250 pulls it well, but you definitely know it's back there, especially with a head wind!
