330 RLTS Tv mount in bedroom question

Okay I feel like an idiot I am finally putting the tv into the bedroom and I attached the gas cartridge to the cabinet door. Now how do I get it to disconnect I do not think It is supposed to be permanently open? I cannot figure out the gas cartridge to release from the mount. Also any suggestions on mount from existing metal frame to rear of television set?

We leave the strut on all the time. It will close and latch just fine for travel. When open it holds the tv at a good tv watching angle. The tv mount just simply mounts to the back of the tv. I did have to change the mounting holes so the tv was centered in the opening. I think I had to lower it about two inches. On the mount I also used some nuts as spacers to space the tv closer to the cabinet door. Not a big deal.
