A/C freezes up
The a/c on my 2008 Jayflight 26bh freezes up if left on for too long (overnight). I have cleaned the filter and pushed the probe into the fins. It sounds like it does not cycle. Also the temperature knob does not change its output. It blows ice cold even when you turn the knob to warmer(red). So we have been manually cycling the a/c ourselves. Running it on low cool for a half hour then on fan for a half hour. Can I just replace the interior control unit myself? I want to say that it is the problem and nothing on the roof is bad. It should just unplug and unscrew right?

Have heard that running on low fan speed when air is running a lot will cause freeze up of the unit. High fan settings are supposed to keep this from happening....don't know if this holds true or not, but wouldn't hurt to try. Replacing the controls is the first mod many TT owners do.

An interesting thing I found out recently is the when an air conditioner gets low on Freon one of the first things it does is ice up. Had it happen to a central air unit for my house as well as an indoor/outdoor unit for my office at work. I would see if the level is low and if it is, see if you can find the leak with some soapy water or look for an oily residue.

You should be able to hear the compressor cycle on and off during normal operation, and if it's still blowing cold when you set the thermo to a warm temp, something must be wrong with either the thermostat or the cooling unit. Might be a bad thermostat, or a relay stuck in the "on" position in the AC unit.
If I were troubleshooting it I'd first try disconnecting the wire to the thermostat that sends the signal for the compressor to go on (disconnect power first). In mine it's the yellow wire. If that doesn't stop the compressor from running, it might be a stuck relay that controls the on-off cycling of the compressor, and that's when I'd get professional help.
There are instructions here in the forum for replacing the wall thermostats.

i doubt anything is wrong,..just set the thermo up warmer,or,put the fan on ,'on' where it runs when the comp kicks off...this has been common in all my campers..low air movement, and max compressor use will ice them up,particularly,at night.

All great ideas but first thing I would do is make sure the filter is clean.

Our AC has been running on lo for the last week with no problem. (24-7) I would suspect the thermostat.

My trailer only has a thermostat for the furnace. The a/c is controlled by the knobs in the ceiling intake cover. The temperature knob does not change how cold the output is when turned from blue to red. It stays cold.

I believe the blue to red knob is a thermostat knob. So it doesn't change the temp the air is coming out, rather it should shut the a/c when it gets cool enough. You can test this by turning it all the way to blue and turn the a/c on, then slowly turn it towards the red, you should hear the compressor kick off and at least in mine the fan keeps running.

I have turned it all the way to the red and with the a/c on it still freezes up.

I would guess that your knob is not working or your thermostat is bad.

First off - I am curious - I thought the 2008 26BH has ducted air with a thermostat on the wall. Are you saying you have the knobs (fan speed and temp) on the overhead unit?
If you have the temp knob on the unit - can you hear/feel a slight click as you turn it from all the way cold to warm?

I guess I'll mention again to check your refrigerant level in the unit. I was very surprised to find out that freezing up is a symptom of low refrigerant.

I have ducted air conditioning but the control knobs are in the overhead unit. The wall thermostat is only for the heat. I will check the freon level.

The unit also has a freeze sensor, so I am wondering if that is working properly. If you look at my signature, there is a link to a service manual -- under Coleman and then 1976376.pdf. It will walk you through some of the troubleshooting steps. If this does not match your unit, you should be able to google search and find the right one.
These AC units somewhat put you in a bad spot. They are like $600-$700 new plus install if you don't do it yourself. You are going to spend several hundred on having it worked on - so are you better off bitting the bullet and just replacing it or having the old one repaired? The system is sealed, so adding additional freon requires them to add ports - not sure how expensive that is - plus repairing the leak. Tough call.

A system low on refrigerant will not keep the evaporator temperature above freezing. The condensation and any moisture in the air will freeze when it contacts a coil that is below 32 degrees.
