? About DOT numbers on my tires

I posted earlier in another post about the tires on my new T T , as I said in the post they are Towmax 175/80R13 STR I looked on the tire to see where they are made and it dos not say.

I got the DOT numbers off of the tire, it is DOT 83B1 4310 GPB DY. Does anyone know what these numbers mean?

4310 should mean the tires were made in the 43rd week of 2010. My trailer was built in 9/09 but the date codes on the tires were in the 30th week of 08 range, meaning they were already over a year old when the trailer was built. You can be pretty sure they were made in China, as are just about all ST tires including the Good Year Marathons on my TT.

Thanks for the info.

I found out they are made in China, It's no wounder there's no jobs in the US, If a person needs a job, they could go to China, we must not know how to make anything in the USA anymore.

This site tells how to figure the numbers on the tire. There is a link at the bottom with the code for plants. Hard to find a ST tire not made in China.

I bought a 50# box of 20D galvanize nails from the hardware store the other day, and to my horror "Made in China" stamped on the box. We can`t even make nails here anymore? SAD.

About 4 years ago, at a company I worked for at the time, the bean counters had a strong desire to shift to a supplier in China for some steel castings. For many years, these castings were done by a foundry in Alabama with an excellent quality record. Needless to say, the first-off samples from China were very poor quality. I tried my darndest to promote retaining the USA supplier. The bean counters won, field problems with the product went up, as did my headaches. I solved my headaches, but the customer probably still suffers.
You know, in the 70's we used to laugh at "junk made in Japan". Dejavu

I did see on the news the other day that there is a new factory (I think in s carolina) that is making chopsticks to export. How ironic. I guess in china they are running out of lumber.

Nope, I did a little checking and even though the initials SC are in the name, it is in Romania.

It is not that no one knows how to make it here... its that everyone wants it done CHEAPER... so the manufacture has to go where labor rates are cheap..

I believe we call that Free Enterprise. Profit is the only motivation.

WHY would you want to replace such good tires? The only Marathons that are causing problems are made in in China...
