Advice on buying new TT
I'm a newby here so hello to all. Wife and I are going to look at a new Jayflilght 22fb today and we're SO EXCITED. There are 3 units that have a really good "sale price" listed, about 5k off msrp. These TTs have been on the show circuits hence the sale price. What should I look for as warning signs? We've never owned a TT before so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I like Jayco Jayflight and have the 19RD. At the time, last December, I had a chance to buy a 22FB loaded with all the options like my 19RD for a little less than $17,000. I would pick one that has the thermal package. You can get a brand new 22FB completely loaded. Thermal package, ladder, convenience package, spare tire, 2 batteries installed, Just about everything that Jayco has to offer for about $18,000 now. That price is not a super sales price. Go to the Jayco web site list out all of the things you want on a TT and they will give you their MSRP. Knock about 30% off that price. That would be a good price starting point.
Just priced a 22FB loaded with most of the options on Jayco site. Their MSRP is about $19,600. Although 30% off is about $13,600 you have to remember that the dealer does pay some transportation charges etc.

Thanks for the input Wyo! They're pricing this at 15k fully loaded, so I feel pretty good about that. I don't mind paying a little extra as long as accessories are thrown in free and I get a good vibe with the dealership. I just wanted to make sure I don't miss any blemishes I may be blind to, cause blemishes means bargaining leverage!

It seems everyone wants to tell you what to pay, even though that isn what you asked. I agree with you, If you are happy with the dealer and get a price you like then go for it...you will love it.
You mention it has been on the show circuit, I assume it is still considered new though. If so you will have the warranty, a very nice feature of Jayco. I'd look closely for signs of wear and tear from being moved and displayed at shows. Check the condition of the tires. Take close look at the caulk seals on the seams and look at the roof. If the mattress isn't still new in plastic i'd want a new one...maybe that's just because I am a germ-a-phobe.

Well, we bought her! VERY EXCITED, the unit wasn't on the show circuit, brand new! The only one instock with the Hazelnut interior color and fully loaded! We take delivery next Sat. then a camping we go!!!! Now, accessories.....ugh! Need cooking stuff, bedding, bath linens, etc.... It's exciting, kinda like furnishing another household, but instead of decorating primitive fancies, well Wal-Mart is the ticket!!!!
Thank you so much for input JOF members, I'm excited to get more input for I know I'll need it!!!

I think you got a great TT and a good price. What part of the country is this dealer located? Sounds like they give great deals.

Wyo, the dealer is TraisideRV (trailsiderv.net) in Grain Valley, MO. They are trying to unload their lot to make space for the 2013s. I think after Labor Day, prices will even be better but we simply couldn't wait. I appreciate your compliment, TTL came out to be 16.3k. I know I may have paid a little more, but I feel good about it, and the dealer is only 20mins from my work. Now we have the painstakingly wait until next Saturday. I had to drag my wife outta Wal-Mart today so I could get home and chore up then make room in the barn for Pandora's Palace!

Congratulations....you may want to keep your wife away from Lady Wendolyns mods or you will never ever get her out of the shops. ( Seriously though you will find hers and others ideas here great and you may possibly even improve on some, be sure to post if you do)

We bought our 24 RKS at Trailside in January, haven't had to have service for anything yet, but the sales experience was excellent, and the price we agreed on was outstanding. Hope you have as much fun with yours and we are having with ours.

That's awesome tls001. Makes me feel pretty good about the whole ordeal. Our purchasing experience was good as well. We were there maybe 1hr! We've already got 2 camping trips booked this month and I think we'll throw a driveway TT party this Sat. when we bring her home. Heck, we'll probably sleep in it in the driveway "down by the river"! LOL

congratulations
congratulations on your new trailer. we have the same floorplan and love it. the insulation package and water holding capacity is the best. we just spent three days in the snow and stayed very comfortable. we do not have many mods yet : just a fantastic fan in the bedroom and solar and 2 6 volt batteries but we are working on it. have fun this summer.
