Advise Please......

Bought our first TT and have the walk thru tomorrow. It is a brand new WhiteHawk 28dsbh. What can I expect with the walk thru, they said it takes 2 hours. Any advise on what to really make sure I have a handle on? I imagine it will be a total information overload, so I would like to know what specifically I should really know.

Thanks in advance and look forward to using this forum as a tool in the coming year as I figure it out

Hard to remember everything on those walk-thrus. I used my iPhone and videotaped the whole thing. That way, I could refer back to it if I questioned something. Ask questions if there's something you don't understand. Make them show you again if you need it. Make them fire up EVERYTHING! AC unit, heat, water (leave the water running in the faucets and look everywhere..in and out), power cord, hitch, etc. Flush the toilet 4-5 times. Check all the appliances. Check the radio and speakers. Turn on every light it has. Make sure all the hoses fit good and check all the dump valves. Have them show you how and when to dump. I could go on and on. QUESTION everything you don't understand. It's your money and a big investment.

If at all possible take a friend with you that has experience with RV's. Get them to show you where ALL the valves for bypassing and draining are located. Identify what every switch does.

Somewhere in the forum is a sticky about what to do at the PDI.

I'll do some more digging to see if I can post the link.

Jayco RV Owners Forum > Technical > TechTalk New RV Owner “Pre Delivery Inspection” (PDI) Checklist

That should help.

If you are new, it will be a LOT of information. Recording your PDI will help tremendously.

Thanks, I will be using this too!
Our dealer actually told us the PDI would take 3 - 4 hours, so I should have plenty of time.

And, don't fear if you miss anything. You've found this site and I can assure you that you can get any question answered here that you might forget to ask during the inspection. Lots of good info here and folks willing to help.

You will find that most campers at a campground to be extremely helpful. Once you get out camping and have any questions, start asking around. I have found that there is usually enough knowledgeable people who are willing to help out fellow campers. Our first time camping, we had no clue what we were doing, and as we were trying to set up, people came to us asking if they could help us out. We find many friendly folks when we camp.

I was in the same situation last year as we were newbies picking up our new 28DSBH. The PDI is overwhelming to say the least. We spent about 2 hours going through everything but of course you cannot remember it all. Lots of great info on this site and very good people with lots of knowledge so ask questions here. One thing I will recommend is you get a good weight distribution hitch. The dealer sold me one that was completely inadequate for my needs and my first time on the highway it was white knuckles and not enjoyable. I immediately went back and upgraded to a Husky Centerline which was night and day from the first hitch. Towed to the east coast last year with absolutely no problems and leave tomorrow for the west coast.
Congrats on your purchase you will love the 28DSBH! Enjoy!!
