Many of the Jayco trailers come standard with the 13000BTU A/C, and they offer the 15100BTU a/c as an option.
For a trailer that is 26-29' in length, does it make much of a difference?

For what it's worth, we will camp mostly in hot climates.

Get all you can.
Triple digits, a 15k won't cycle off.
A 13.5 won't keep up.

For how cheap it is as an option, you can always turn down the bigger unit. You can't turn up the smaller one. Thermal package helps as well.

Yes get the bigger ac unit. Get both if two are an option. You'll find multiple threads of people trying to get their camper cooler. You'll find none (that I've seen) of people complaining their ac keeps it too cold and they can't turn it down. As tigger said, thermal package helps as well...

OP, what models are you looking at? I see you have a few threads asking about different options and was just curious....

Upgrade is minimal dollars ($150).
You're camping in hot climate ? It's a no brainer.
Get it.
Do a search, a lot complain about AC not being able to keep up on hot weather, you never hear about people saying they're " too cold".
We're looking at ordering a Jay Flight 34RSBS, we'll get the upgrade and we will also order the optional 2nd AC for the bedroom.
Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it,
Do you want the Mrs to be uncomfortable and all pissed off on your weekend get away?
Get the upgrade!

You've obviously not met my wife! It could be 100 and she'd complain it's cold!

Very happy with our 15k, it has struggled at times in very hot but kept it. 13.5 I cant imagine. We pre-wired for a second also, it was cheap and now we have the option. Adding later would be very hard without prewire.

An A/C is like the TV. "I bought too much truck, wish I'd bought a smaller one", said no one, ever.

Our 13.5k Btu AC has been doing fine in our currently awful weather here in Richmond. Temperatures in the mid to upper 90's and humidity in the 80's. We only have a 24' (living area) trailer, the 23RB.

With that said, if I had ordered the trailer, I would have definitely upgraded to the 15k Btu AC. It's always better to have a 15k Btu AC, and not need it, than to need it, and not have it.

And IIRC the upgrade is $125 msrp from Jayco.
