Air Conditioner/ Thermostat question

I have a Coleman MACH 15 15000 btu Air Conditioner ducted with a separate gas/DC heat unit under the fridge... the TT is a 31ft designer....
The unit in South FL works great in the heat we have here and high humidity.....
My question is last week at Fort Wilderness the unit was set on 75 with 4 adults sleeping...with the rear bedroom door closed,,,the rear BR we liked to froze, so I got up and turned it u to 78..it shut down and would not turn back on...it seemed warmer than 78...So I put it back to 76 it came on..then we liked to froze again it seemed to have a mind of its own,,,I have the manual Coleman/Mach thermostat with heat/AC on the entry wall in the Living area...I want to convert to a digital thermostat...is this possible with a standard thermostat from Home Depot etc..or can I purchase one for this unit somewhere? Or any suggestions.....Thanks

I believe that will void your warranty. I may be wrong but I think I read that.

Jump over to the "Jayco Mods" section, there are a number of threads on changing over to the digital thermo. One of the best and easiest mods I did.

If you are concerned about the warranty, just buy the Coleman digital. It is a wire for wire replacement and can be purchased from many suppliers. Read the threads in the Mod section.

I didn't want to cause any potential warranty problems so I replaced the original with Coleman digital. They are more expensive, but I felt then and still feel now the difference isn't worth potential warranty problems. I full time so my units run a lot.
As was stated above, the Coleman units are wire for wire/color for color replacement. It takes about 5 minutes to make the change. Maybe 10 minutes after putting your screwdriver up.

Thanks guys...it is about 6 years old..so no warranty issues to deal with...I will look at the mod section and most likely get the CM digital.....again thanks..

I bought my Honeywell from Menards, a local big box retailer, for $20. Works just fine.

You may want to try balancing the air flow. Try shutting down some of the air entering your bedroom. This will force more cold air into the main section where the theromostat is located.

I also learned to never run the fan on low..it slows down the air flow across the coils as well..causing sweating issues and harder work for the AC....crank it up and get a digital thermostat i was told....
