Another newbie with a question
Just bought a very nice used 2008 jay flight 29bhs. I searched this blog for the answer to this question, but could not find any reference to it: Is there not a filter in the furnace similar to a home furnace? Seems like a necessity, but I can't search one out on my TT, can't find any info about it in the owners manual, can't find reference on this blog, etc.
Sure would appreciate confirmation one way or the other (and if there is one, some directions on how to get to it.) Thanks much!
Steve

Not sure why but it likely does not have one. We had a Winnebago Minnie and it did not have filters.

I don't believe there are filters in an RV furnace.

Thanks to all of you for your confirmation. I must say, I'm surprised that there is no filter on the air intake (return air). Even cars and trucks have filter on their interior air intakes. Seems like not having one would just guarantee that over time, dust and other airborne junk would clog the heat exchanger or at least restrict the air flow making the furnace less efficient.
Anyway, thank you again! Steve

My 2004 Mobile Suites 5th.whl. had a filter on the air intake. It also had a filter on each air return in the ceiling inside.
I have not looked on my present Jayco but will this fall. Thx. for the reminder.

Your logic is good, but I have had multiple campers over 30+ years of camping, and none have had furnace filters. None have ever been clogged up, either. I don't worry about furnace efficiency, because the insulation is necessarily very thin in most RVs for weight saving, and a slightly more efficient furnace would never be noticed when the temp falls.

I noticed that our TT has filters in the heat vents. Is this something a previous owner has put in, or is this the norm?

I would say someone added the filters.

I was just thinking, they may have put the filters in the vents to cut down on any dust coming out of the vents. Most furnaces that have a filter have it on the intake (return air) side.
