Then we tried 2-way radios. Hmmm.....you mean you have to push the little button before you talk????
Now we use the 2 yellow tennis balls on top of 2 magnetic base metal extenders.......that seems to work the best and we eliminated a lot of hard feelings too. Lol
It's all about training. The first time we ever lined up my dad's boat (we borrowed it for the weekend when we were dating) I trained her which hand signals to use, where I needed to be, etc. We walked around, talked and looked for a good 15 minutes or so that first time. I made my expectations clear, as did she. I told her if she needed to step away where I couldn't see her, that's fine, she just needed to know I would stop until I could see her again. I've only had to honk at her once, I think she forgot this simple rule... If all else fails, she knows to yell "STOP" at the top of her lungs and I'll be on the brakes in a real hurry.
The 2-way radios worked for a while, but she couldn't figure out that she needed to wait a beat after depressing the transmit button or I couldn't hear the first 3 words out of her yammering mouth. So we haven't used them in a while, but they're still in the truck just in case we need them.
To be fair, her parents gave her a big head start with all of this, she grew up (just as I did) on boats all over Texas lakes, so she already had it down pretty good. She just walks away if I start yelling, so like I said, I haven't done that in a while.
