Anyone Pulling A 32BHSD or Similar With An EcoBoost F150?

Just curious for feedback. I'd consider a Max Tow Heavy Duty Payload with about 2200 pounds payload if I were to move this way.

We have a 2012 33rlds and it pulls great. Had to adjust hitch settings and set up at cat scales and truck is legal in regards to weight limit capacities. Cgvw is 16100.

Would you do it again? I have a 6.4L smoker, but need to make some changes within the next year at best. I know a lot of people say I should not change and ill be sorry, but I have to consider that 85% of my driving is unloaded as a daily driver. We don't travel more than 400 miles from home. I can't fathom staying with a diesel much longer, and the new 6.2L Superduty at 14mpg daily driving won't cut it. What do you get for mileage with your EcoBoost?

I've looked into an economy car, but while I still have a truck payment it provides no financial advantage. I thought the EcoBoost F150 could pull dual duty, and help with fuel costs as well.

That is a really big trailer for a 1/2 ton. I know the eco boost is amazing, but I would think that is still asking a lot. But please don't take my work for it, I have only test drove the ecoboost.

How long before the 6.4 is paid off, may be worth paying off coverting to a dedicated TV and then picking up the economy car for daily driving.

I agree shes a big old hoss, but l'm kinda feeling my way around. I'd love to dedicate this truck, but by the time shel'll be paid off there will be close to 200k on the ticker. As a daily driver, they go on too fast.

I've even considered selling the truck since I have about 15k in equity with it and getting a stripped 6.2L gasser for towing, and then an economy car for daily driving. Problem is there is no stripped truck out there for what I owe on this truck.

Last scenario is to dump the truck and trailer, and find a WhiteHawk 31DSBH and go EcoBoost. Nothing says "save".

Everyone has their own decision making criteria, and I am certainly not saying any of your plans are bad...except maybe going from a Diesel to a Gasser to tug a ~8500-9000lb TT

IMO I wouldn't be too concerned about the miles, especially as it relates to the 6.4 powertrain assuming you got a good one without Stud, Head Gasket or EGR issues -- or if you have already taken the steps to "bullet proof" it. Once dedicated how many miles will you be adding on? My TV is dedicated + a few weekend miles cause I like driving it....I put about 5-6K miles a year. Only putting low miles as a dedicated TV certain helps prolong the life, and maximize value.

Our half ton pulls great... --however--, we suffer in the payload department. Our tongue weight with two full tanks, two batteries, light stuff in the front storage compartment, and clothes/stuff in the front bedroom cabinets add up to around 1,050lbs. Add two adults (one pretty big LOL) and a few grandkids, we have NO payload room in the bed of the truck to add bikes, toys, etc etc. Half tons like ours can tow up to 10k great (except for the slow tow on the steep long mountain grades), but, we don't plan on putting much in the truck bed if we want to stay within safe towing limits I'm glad we don't have a larger tt with a heavier tongue weight.

But, maybe some day, our half ton will grow up to be a 3/4 - one ton LOL

I do not tow with my 2013 Eco boost F-150 but my mileage on the highway gets about 16mpg and around town 13mpg. I need the extra seating when we go camping so I tow with my Excursion. One thing I did notice the F-150 sits about 6" lower than my Ex.

We have a 2012 F150 EcoBoost w/ HD TOWING PKG with 3:73. Combined weight is 17k. The combined weight changes with different axle ratios. We are returning from a trip to CO and the truck did better than I expected it would. Our combined weight is a little over 14k.

I'm really anxious to hear how these Ecoboosts pulling near max stand up over the long run. Ford is sticking with them right now in the face of Dodge and Nissan coming out with diesels. Of course, it will also be interesting to see how their engines perform.

If I were in the market for a new truck right now, an F150 ecoboost with max payload/tow is exactly what I'd get. Mileage will be down compared to a 'regular' F150 just due to rear end gears, but I think it will pull max weight without any problem. I only pull 4-6 times a year at this point. If I were going once a month for hundreds of miles, I'd have to think about it more.

Yeah, I tow a flatbed with ATV's, but my big concern is the flying brick. At 1,250 tongue and just under 10k loaded, I'm gonna have to think REAL hard. We tow 250 miles one way average, but could go farther... I doubt. Towing the brick 10-12 times a summer, its hard to justify the smoker, but I'm not sure the 150 platform is up to it. I know the EcoBoost is.

I tow a 33 bhts with a dry weight of 8600 lbs and my 2012 ecoboost with max tow handles it great.
