Anyone towing a jayflight 32 bhds with an exoboost?

Looking at purchasing a 32 bhds with a dry weight of 8000 lbs. wondering what experience others are having towing this trailer with a f150 ecoboost? Thanks

I dont have the F150, but I pulled mine (dry) with a Tundra. Had plenty of power but got pushed all over the road. White knuckled the wheel every time we went on a trip. Ended up traded the Tundra in for a Silverado 3500 this winter. Havent towed with that yet, but I'm sure it will be much better.

I am in NO WAY putting down the ecoboost I here it is a great TV. But there is also no way that I would try to pull a 32bhds with a 1/2 ton truck. Fully loaded our 32bhds is just under 10k with close to 1200lb of TW. There was another member here who bought a 32bhds and was using a 1/2 as a TV and within just a couple of months had traded up to a 3/4 ton diesel.

I would second this. The website may say 8000 dry, but the actual sticker on all of them will be higher. I haven't weighed mine (32BHDS), but I think my sticker says 8800 (I will have to check, it's been a while since I looked at it). I have a 3/4 duramax and would not pull with anything smaller. Especially if you plan on going up or down hills. My opinion would be the 1/2 ton is going to get beat up pretty quickly.

We just purchased a 32 IBTS.. Similar in size and weight. Yellow tag is 8900 lbs. I had a Silverado 1500 and in no way would I have ever towed this trailer with it. I traded it for a Ram 2500 Cummins and even on my 20 mile trip home with it yesterday it was apparent that the 3/4 ton diesel was the right move.

That is just too much tongue weight and too much trailer for a 1/2 ton.

I have talked to a guy towing a RLDS with a yellow sticker of 8900# with a EB, he said no problem towing for local tows but he wouldent want to take it in an extended trip. I know the EB is a great truck for towing, but I think for safety and comfort reasons, I would not personally tow a 32BHDS with one.
I tow our 32BHDS (8252lbs Yellow) with a 2012 2500HD Gasser (412hp and 433ftlbs with my mods) and the truck handles it great as far chassis is concerned. If I would go any heavier though, I would trade in for a diesel. JMTC.
As for as the 32BHDS is concerned, we love it! Great TT!!

I have a 32BHTS and tow ours with a 5.4 '09 F-150. I have bags which helps considerably, but I think you'll notice that the guys who scream about this the most drive Chevys and that is understandable. A 1500 Silverado is not a late model F-150. It's definitely not a perfect solution and I wouldn't recommend cruising through the mountains, but I tow all over Iowa and have no reservations there. I'm installing a compressor for the bags in my truck this spring and it'll improve the experience even more. A 2015 F-150 Ecoboost would have no issues weight wise slinging that trailer around.

We recently took delivery of this trailer and love it. We tow with 3/4 ton Powerstroke. It's a good match.

My 2014 32BHDS is sitting at 1350# tongue weight with nothing more than sewer hoses, patio mats and some lumber for leveling in the front storage compartment, and both LP tanks were empty when I weighed it. Almost 9000# total.
I've just gone up to 1500# spring bars because of handling issues with a 2500HD. Trailer was pushing truck. Depending on loading, propane and carrying fresh water one could very easily hit a 1500# tongue weight or more. These are very big trailers with very high tongue weights.
I know everyone seems to get all defensive when they're told their half ton isn't enough, but in the case of a 32BHDS I don't think they are. Sure you can do air bags, Timbrens, or add-a-leafs but those are all just bandaids on broken legs.
Bottom line is, yes you have the towing capacity and plenty of horse power but with a 32BHDS it's all about payload!!

As most folks have indicated this trailer is too heavy for a 1/2 ton. My total loaded weight is about 6800# with close to 1000# on the tongue. This works fine for me, however I wouldn't consider getting a heavier trailer.

Having just sold a 2011 Ecoboost and waiting on my Ram 2500 with a 6.4 Hemi to get here. As all have said, it's all about payload. You will be over, even with the HD payload package. The Ecoboost has the power to pull it, even stop it, but not as well as a HD will.

We just pulled our new 32bhds from Michigan to Florida on its virgin run. I could feel a big difference in weight from our old 29bhs. We are pulling with a Chevy 3500 Duramax Dually and I would not even think about anything less than a 3/4 ton for this trailer.

Chalk me up to the 3/4 ton or better recommendation.

I had a 2013 F150 and a 7000lbs loaded trailer (281BHS) and the 1/2 ton was not up to the task. A bit of wind and passing vehicles pushed us over the road.
We upgraded to an F250 and are happy with it now.

The F150 was a 157" wheelbase crew cab long box.

well as for me I know I pulled my old tt which was 32 foot and 7600 lbs empty with my 2005 Yukon with the 5.3. It would pull it and downshift a lot on hills but after going to the f350 dually diesel no comparison on the highway at speed. The truck rides a little rough without anything behind it but I don't get the massive sway I had with the Yukon when the trailer is hooked up and it just keeps on movin on the hills. Only thing I notice is the turbo boost gauge move when I hit the hills. Mine is an older 95 f 350 that doesn't have but 210 hp but the torque and suspension with the dual wheels makes all the difference

I passed on that trailer because of the payload issue. I'm towing with an ecoboost. The 28' trailer we got is a load enough. Power is not the issue. Payload is for us.

Although the sales person was sure the 32' trailer would be fine, i'm thankful now we did not push it. I put roadmaster active suspension on and still think our 28' trailer needs a bigger truck...

If it's 8000# dry it will be close to 9000# with batteries, propane, water and your personal stuff. That'll translate to about 1350# on the tongue (15%). Visit the CAT Scale and see what your rear axle weighs now. Add 1350 to that and if the number is bigger than the Rear GAWR (from the yellow sticker on the truck) you should shop for a bigger truck or smaller TT. JMHO
The CAT Scale is your friend.

Our 32BHDS weighs 9200lbs when ready to camp. I tow it with my V-10 Excursion with no issue. Last June, as I was backing up my Ex to my TT, the transmission linkage bracket broke off and I had to have the Ex towed in for repair. I decided, since the trip was only 25 miles on local roads, to tow the TT with my 2013 F-150 Ecoboost. Keep in mind the F-150 was completely empty except for myself and my 15 year old son, I did not re-adjust my reese dual cam for the F-150 and I did not exceed 50mph. The tow experience was okay, I defineitely felt the TT back there, but my concern was stopping, even with the built in brake controller set up properly I still felt the TT pushing when slowing down. I did not want to take any additional chances on the return trip so I stored the TT at the CG until my Ex was repaired.

I pull A 32rlds with an older short wheelbase f250 7.3 Powerstroke and it does ok when conditions are perfect. It's a handful in windy conditions when the tail tries to wag the dog. I haven't driven this combination in the rain yet and, I hope I never do.

Ditto to everyone else...

Always take the salespersons approval of your tow vehicle with a grain of salt.. They are in the business of selling trailers.. If they honestly answered the "can i pull this..." question everytime, they'd be selling a lot less trailers. Sure there are plenty of good and honest sales people, but sometimes the potential for a commission seems to outweigh reality..
