Atwood W/H 6 Gallon

Does anyone know what the factory setting is for the thermostat temperature, i.e, 140 degrees or what? I just replaced the thermal cut-off on mine and ran it for an hour and it got to 160 degrees. I can call Atwood tomorrow and see what they say, just thought I would ask

Factory settings are 140*. I just replaced the both thermostats in mine [T-STAT, ECO] because of a malfunction. They press up against the tank wall and tell the board to shut the gas/elec off at 140*. Not sure if the thermal cut off [fusible link] has anything to do with temp control. It's my understanding that the TCO is a safety feature in the event of a fire that will melt the link and shut down the gas.

TCNASHVILLE is correct. The thermal cutoff relates to cutoff in case of a fire that melts the small unit which cuts off the gas supply.

It has nothing to do with the water temperature.

Factory installed fixed thermostat is a 140 degree thermostat as stated in the owner's manual. The hysteresis of these thermostats is 20 degrees so theoretically the temp could swing from 140 to 160 degrees. These thermostats are manufactured no where close to exacting specs so theoretically the temp could also swing from 120 to 140 degrees.

Problem solved. Installed an Electronic Adjustable Thermostat (Amazon $30.00).
Lesson learned: The thermostat must be firm against the tank. 1 1/2 hrs on low setting had the water temp at 125 degrees. Thanks for the replies.

Yes, like trying to take you temperature without the thermometer touching the back of your mouth.
Won't be accurate.

Thanks! Ordered one. Expecting it Monday.

The TT is packed for the winter. I'll install it next April.

Electronic Thermostat Install

There is 3 little tabs on the opening that the thermostat pass thru to seat against the tank. They must be altered in order for the thermostat to seat against the tank. I took needle nose pliers and kinda rolled then outward to make the necessary clearance. If you are simply replacing the old thermostat, those tabs function to hold it against the tank. Good luck. Mine is working great.

I had to do the same thing. The ones from the factory must have been put in before the fascia was installed because there's no way my replacements were going in the same way.

Any pictures of the installation or links to this electronic thermostat? Kind of interested though I don't need it right now. Always looking to change something.

Also curious which model yall installed this on? 6 gal gas/elec DSI?

I installed the Electronic Thermostat on my 6 Gal DSI Gas/Electric. The item is available on Amazon for $30.00. Works like a charm and you can set you desired
temp. My W/H is 2008 vintage.
