Awning capturing water while closed

Today spent the Morning washing and waxing the TT for the long week, leave Tuesday back Monday Labor day. My awning is capturing water and turning the first 6-10 inches green and black I was able to scrub it out with awning cleaning and a hand brush but what a pain. My last jayco never captured water anyone else have this issue.

Not an uncommon problem, no matter what the brand/model. I just scrubbed mine down a couple of days ago.

Mine also is always wet when I deploy it. I have to believe it will shorten the life of the fabric but not much you can do about it other then clean it regularly.

The metal cladding you are looking at (I think) is part of the awning and not sold separately.. as far as I know..

Do you have an electric awning? Here's an oddball thought---.

It is possible to roll up the awning fabric the wrong way. That is, if your awning is out and you hold the out button, the roller will roll up the awning fabric, the wrong way. It would make a nifty water collector if that is how it's stored.

Don't ask me how I know, because if you do I will lie.

I have the electric awning, and I know it's retracted correctly. It still collects water just like the OP's. The worst part is that it's so high up that it's hard to clean. :lightning:

We have an electric awning on our new 265RKS and have had no water problems in the two months we have had it. We have traveled and camped during several heavy rain storms also.

my awning also has several mold spots on it - it also is electric and wont roll up backwards - i used woolite spray foam carpet cleaner to get the stains off. My canopy is made from a vinyl type material.

You can get the cover only if you buy a new fabric. I, too would like one with the cover but it will have to wait until this one is wore out.

Have a look here for aftermarket awning covers. Saw this in Trailer Life magazine.

Mine does the same thing and it is also electric. Will only roll one way. It is a pain in the rear to clean and you sure can't leave it out, it would get ripped off. Even in this 100 degree weather, it is full of water.

Oops, need to change the 2008 Ford F-150 out. Just traded for a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab with the 5.9 cummins. Gotta read all about it.

Joe,

Isn't it great that you can step down in model year, but at the same time be up-grading the TV

Mine...well, it's electric, you can roll it up the wrong way (that'll be the last time the kids deploy it!) and it also collects water either way.

I have to admit, this'll be the last electric awning I have on a TT, if I have a choice!
