Awning holding water...

Does anyone's electric awning hold water when rolled up? Mine always "rains" on me when I extend it. Any way to prevent this?

I have the same issue with our manual awning, even when we put away dry, it absorbs the rain water in storage.

Yes, it's been the bane of my existence all summer. Not only that, but it's impossible to clean it decently when it's 9 feet off the ground and you're a shortie! I had a lot of moldy gunk on the awning tube as well last time I opened it. I'm wondering if there is some kind of awning cover I could put on it for when it goes to dealer storage for the winter.

In case your not aware of it, it can be rolled up in 2 different directions(at least the power ones). One way holds more water than the other. Counter-clockwise will result in less water. Just continue to hold the button when you extend it and it will roll back up the other way. Clockwise leaves a dip off of the roof and allows water to collect in the awning. Counter-clockwise eliminates the dip. Presto.....less water!

Now is that counter clock wise when you look from the front of the trailer or the rear?

I think the vinyl coated fabrics allow condensation to form inside the roll. You don't even need rain, all you need is heavy dew for water to collect inside. Bleach and water will get rid of the mildew, but be careful to rinse all the bleach off or it will rot the polyester thread.

That is very interesting I never ever thought of that. I have a 2012 29BHS with the electric awning and I notice that it would go past fully extended but never kept going... That would help with my awning not sagging when stored rolled up and capturing some water. I will give that a try. Thanks
