awning screens? kitchen tents?
Does anything like an attachable kitchen tent exist for awnings?
As a kid when we camped with our pop up trailer we always brought a kitchen tent. It was great for those rainy days to still be outside and also a less buggy spot to hang out outside.
I'd love to hear what some of you are using.
Thanks.

Yes, they do make screen rooms that attach to your awning. I've seen them at camp grounds and there has been some mention of them on this forum.

I gave screen rooms some thought, too, but have read some posts about what a pain they were to detach when a sudden storm comes up and you have to pull the awning in to avoid wind damage. I'm now thinking about a gazebo that can be anchored down and adding the screen wall kit to it. I've seen families at campgrounds set them up around the picnic table, so they can cook, eat, and relax in a bug-free environment. Seems to me to be the perfect solution!
Just don't set it up over the fire pit!

screens to me always seemed to block air too ... I agree attached to awning would be a pain if a storm came up ... but anything that could lift up could be

1) stay away from Crappy of Colorado screen rooms.. they are made to cheap..
2) if you have a manual awning pull the legs off the RV and stake them to the ground "car port" style this will give the screen room the strength to withstand most winds..
3) with an electric awning get a set of trucker jack poles to attach to the roller tubes before putting up the screen room.. I use a ratchet strap on both ends and also stake that to the ground..
Screen rooms are great but a PIA if you try to use them for one day and then move the next.. I camp in the DSW for 5 months of the year. If you search the mods section you should find my screen room posts.. with pics..

Thanks everyone! I hadn't thought of having to take it down in a storm. Will probably go with the separate screen tent.

IMO, to fight the bugs, perhaps a camping gazebo is a whole lot cheaper and more flexible? Locally, we generally don't have a problem but if travelling around the US - am betting a reasonably-priced quick set-up/take-down solution with a carry bag AND that took minimal storage space would be great! Recommendations? This one looks neat: Amazon.com : Lightspeed Outdoors Screen House Pop Up Canopy, Blue : Family Tents : Sports & Outdoors
