Awning slack, sags and holds water in the middle

Has anyone ever had any problems with loose awning fabric. With awning all the way out, the fabric is tight on the ends but seems slack or loose in the middle. When it rains the rainwater will accumulate, causes a lot of extra weight on the support arms. Its a standard 18' awning on a 2016 TSBH. Also when retracting there is a loud squeling noise like something is under strain.

I think the more you let this situation happen, the worse it will get as that water is heavy and will stretch your fabric where the water pools, deepening the sag.

We put a fairly steep tilt angle on one side to get the water to run off.
We also use the large de-flappers to tightly pull the ends of the awning even tighter, which tends to take out some of the slack/sag that naturally occcurs in the middle of the awning.

Mine will catch some water at the highest position. I lowered the angle until it drains without pooling, but then the outside edge is just barely above six feet so watch your head. Makes the supports low enough to be a hazard too.

Don't let the water pool. It will collapse it if too much water pools.

The solution is a little different based on the type of awning you have. Some electrics are designed to auto dump as water accumulates but it's still a good idea to set them so one corner is lower than the other.

Most manuals won't auto dump so they must have a corner lowered for drainage.
