Bathroom fan choices
We don't use our factory bathroom fan in our whitehawk 28dsbh. It is pretty much worthless. I have a Maxx air II cover on now so I can leave the vent open. Looking at the replacement fan options it looks like there is a few different ways I could go. One is a Vortex II that looks like it just drops in with no other modifications, $100. Next would be a MaxxFan Standard at $188. This would require removing the factory unit from the top of the roof. It has a rain sensor so I could leave the vent cover off. Third option would be a fantastic fan. Fantastic recommends using their vent covers so this would be the most expensive option.
Right now I am leaning towards the MaxxFan standard. Can anyone chime in that owns any of these with their experience.
Thanks

I did the vortex II but will probably wind up doing the Fantastic fan at some point. The vortex is a nice e upgrade and very easy to complete but it falls short as far as ability to move air and noise levels.
If I had it to do over again I'd go straight to the Fantastic Fan...

Thanks. I have replaced our kitchen skylight and need to do the bathroom one. I figured while I am replacing the bathroom skylight I might as well do the fan at the same time. The fantastic deluxe model is $189 but no rain sensor, so add another $45 for their cover. The deluxe with rain sensor is $259.

I also went with the vortex 2. In my opinion it moves a ton of air, especially compared to the stock fan. However, I agree that it falls short as far as noise levels. Initially I thought I would be OK with the noise, but after being out with the camper the last three weeks the noise has been more of an issue than I thought it would be. I am ready to try the fantastic fan. If life had do-overs I too would go straight to the fantastic fan.

I installed a Fantastic Fan in my bathroom and a MaxxFan Deluxe in the living room area (neither one has rain sensor). I have a cover over the Fantastic Fan but the MaxxAir has the cover built in (so to speak). For my money, I much prefer the MaxxAir over the Fantastic Fan.
Interesting note on these, of no consequence; while traveling down the road the Fantastic Fan tends to close on its own and the MaxxAir tends to open on its own .

I'm happy with my Vortex 2. It was super easy to install and didn't require any roof sealant changes. It moves a ton of air on high and on low or med it's pretty quiet. You can also just close the bathroom door to reduce noise and it pulls air through the gap under the door.
You can also blow fresh air into the trailer by using the reverse setting either on high or low.
Since the plastic is opaque and not clear, it does reduce the amount of daylight that comes through the vent but my vent is next to the shower skylight so there is tons of light to begin with. Didn't really make any difference for me but it may if that's your only daylight source in the room.

We went with the MaxAir Deluxe with the remote. It is very quiet and moves the amount of air you need. It can also work as a ceiling fan with the cover closed.

I have a smaller X213 and picked up this one Vortex II Install was easy. The thing is a little loud on the highest setting but it does move air. I usually keep it on medium..and make sure to turn it off when I flush
When you do your install..make sure you put plugs or cover all your drains. As careful as most people are when working overhead they almost always drop a screw.

Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead with the MaxxFan Standard. Has rain sensor and remote. The vortex was tempting but since I am replacing the bathroom skylight I figured I would do both at the same time.

Good choice. I also have both the Fantastic fan and a Maxxair and I much prefer the Maxxair. The vent lid has two lifting arms and is much sturdier, it runs quieter, has more speed settings plus reverse. Overall a much nicer fan.
You will be happy with the Maxxair. You probably got the Maxxfan Plus if it has a rain sensor and remote.
Cheers

I replaced our bedroom fan/vent this week. Also need to replace the bath fan / vent.
I thought the deal for Maxx Air fans was great. A two pack deal.
MAXXAIR MAXXFAN MODEL 00-04000KX (2) FAN PACK | eBay
I did have to cut down the inner bezel trim. Turned out great. I also found a new Maxx Air cover on c-list for half the price of new.

Pls post up some pics of your install. I've thought about switching my fan out for a maxxair but really only use the fan when showering.

That's a great deal! So... you used your current existing bezel? The eBay add states that they do not come with the "Garnish".

Had to trim off about 1" from the existing bezel to make it fit. will post some picks in a different thread when able.
Trying not to hijack crtc's thread too much.
Will be testing out the Maxx Air this weekend. They seem like a great unit.

So I completed a mod this weekend. The existing bathroom fan, as you all know, is only a noise maker. It's not shrouded so it can't move air efficiently. I wasn't prepared to drop significant cash on a permanent Fantastic or Maxxair installation... I'm sure we will be upgrading our coach as our Family grows. Heng's Vortex II "drop-in" was an option, but at $200CAD, it's rated at 188 CFM.
I sourced 4 120mm PC fans, used 3/4" aluminum flat bar for mounting and then wired everything together. I'm getting 280 CFM air movement at a cost of $32. The LED nightlights are a bonus. Relatively quiet too.

Forgot to mention that each fan is 4.2 Watt (.35A) so manageable while boon docking.

Maxx Fan installed
Installed the maxx fan today. Took around 45min. If your pretty handy the thing is really easy to install. I posted some pics of the fan being installed. Just need to put down some lap sealant on the roof and all is good. I did have to trim the trim ring a little bit, using a oscillating tool made short work of this.

That is a good idea. I have a bunch of computer fans laying around or just get some new ones.
