Bathroom sink stopper
Our family just bought a new 2016 WH 27DSRL and I noticed the dink stopper stays all the way down so the sink fills with water. My old 23 MBH did not do this. I have tried turning it but nothing works. Am I missing something or is this by design

Same TT same problem. The stopper is either in or out, no inbetween.

When you mean out you mean out of the hole completely?

Yes - DW bought a little mesh screen that fits the drain perfectly although I don't see the need since it goes directly to the Grey Tank, but it makes her feel better that "stuff" is not going into the grey tank.

I replaced my lav sink stopper with this one. Push in the middle and it opens, push the sides down and it closes. The original stopper has the exact problem you're describing.

We have a 2015 and the same issue. For us out all together. I do not want to leave it in because if the water turned on somehow, it could overflow and flood. I am going to see if I can buy a strainer type insert to leave in when we do not need to fill the sink. I am always afraid something will drop into the deep dark hole with the stopper out. I use one of the strainers for the kitchen sink to keep food from going into the grey tank.

I use a round garden hose gasket. I just push/roll it up onto the stopper and it sits in the sink drain perfectly. It looks like a standard sink stopper now. Upside: the sink drains, and DW's wedding band won't fall into the drain if she drops it. Downside: I would have to roll the gasket off if I ever wanted to stop up the sink (never have needed to, and probably never will). Total cost? Pennies. I buy hose gaskets in bulk, so I don't really know the cost.
I used to have a picture of my "mod", but I couldn't find it.

We used a rubber band instead... it is thin enough to allow the stopper to be pushed down in the drain - and won't normally fall into the sink on it's own.

X2. Although I used an "O-ring" You don't have to remove it if you want to fill the sink with water. You just slide it all the way up to the top of the stopper and the drain hole seals. If you want the sink to drain, you slide the o-ring down about 1/2 inch and voila...it drains.

This is the set the DW ordered and now there is one in every Grey Tank drain.

I use the O-ring also and it works like a charm like Dewey said.

Ha! Sometimes it's the simple stuff! I never thought to try that. I don't have any interest in blocking the sink, so it doesn't really bother me, but still, a simple solution if I ever DO want to...

I was looking at this exact problem yesterday afternoon in my new 26BH. I'm not sure if you have the same stopper, but mine had these strange cut-outs on the bottom that looked for all the world like they were made to tear loose and bend out. That's what I did and that solved the problem.
If you have the same plug, that's got to be what that is designed for. There's no other reason for that cut-out to be there.

Mine is very different. Much longer and more slender and no tabs☹️
I'll stay with my screens as I never fill the sinks anyway.
Thanks for sharing as others my want to order from Jayco.
