Bed Size...am I missing something?

I am still looking for a truck/trailer combination and went to the Richmond RV show today. For what we are going to use it for, and how often we will likely use it, it looks like I am back to getting a trailer vs a fifth (I still like the fifth's better, but I cant see spending 50k for something we will likely use maybe 2 weekends a month during spring/summer). So...

I really want to go with a Jayco because of the warranty and the quality (my family has owned several Jaycos in the past). However, do they not make a normal size (60x80) queen bed, or at least have a bunk model that does not put the foot of the bed smack against the entertainment wall? I am 6 ft, and the smaller beds, combined with all the ones I saw not being a walk around mean I dont fit on the bed...surely this is not the case??

Some models -- Jay Flight 32BHDS I recall -- have enough space between bed and entertainment center to add you own 60x80 mattress. But your right, many done. I have 29QBH, there is about 2" between bed and wall. My previous 26BH had enough room, but they you no longer had a walk around bed since there was only one opening to the sleeping area unlike the larger bunk houses.

We almost left the Jayco family for Keystone's Laredo 291TG.

At 6'1"I could use the extra length, but I have been able to manage for the 20-25 nights a year we use the trailer.

My Eagle had enough room at the foot that I could put in a full queen. It does not touch the wall but I cannot walk around it. No big deal to me. get in at the foot One side now houses the dirty clothes container and the other side has the vacuum and Mr Heater storage.

I think the key for me would be to have a layout where the bed is not up against the entertainment wall. it appears the the Eagle 314BHDS would fit that bill. I dont understand why they didnt put an LP burner on the outside kitchen though (vs the microwave). Good looking unit though and a strong contender

Ours came with a short queen but I found that we could buy a full size air mattress and when we leave, let out some air, bring in the slide and the overhang fits under the lip of the vanity at the foot of the bed. Being able to walk around the mattress so putting on sheets was easy was a factor in our choice.

My X213 has a king size bed. Since it's in a slide you can't walk around it but you'll never complain about lack of room.

Many manufacturers have slimmed down their bed sizes, much to my chagrin. I am 6'3" so I share your frustration with bed length. As mentioned, you can swap out for a regular sized bed. Yes, you loose a walk around bed but most folks spend very little time in an RV bedroom unless you are a full timer. For me, it was more important to have a comfortable nights sleep then retain the walk around feature.

Good points on the aftermarket mattresses. Not like I would be in the bedroom very much (except to sleep), so walk around is less important than a mattress that fits me and is comfy. I guess I didnt think about buying a regular mattress and putting in there. Thanks!

X2 on the X213. I'm 6'4". We chose our 213 because of the bed size.
