Bent black water pull rod.

My black tank has a long black pull handle and it is bent and I am having trouble opening and closing my black water valve any suggestions? Also I have a sealed insulated bottom on the trailer.

Un-screw clock wise and remove it, but not without opening the area. Cut a 10 x 10" hole in the chloroplast.

Put some water softener down the toilet to grease the seal from the valve. When it goes heavy the can bent. Also you can the rod in a piece of 3/8 plastic pipe to avoid bending, be sure it is fasten properly.

I have a Jayco Jayflight 29RLDS and the black water tank has a very long handle on it also. On one of my first trips when I went to drain the black tank the rod came off from the valve. It was still under warranty so I took it back to the dealer. The cut a flap in the underbelly to access the rod, and now when it starts to get hard to pull because it is starting to bend I know where to access it.

What do you mean by water softener, do you mean fabric softener

Yes, fabric softener. The cheapest liquid stuff you can find. I dump 1-2 cups in each time, along with a black tank chemical packet.

Slight hijack here but relevant...

Can the underbelly membrane be taken off or opened up without slicing it open?

There are several screws holding it on, I would say it can be done but might be a difficult. On my first trip back in 2012 when I pulled the black tank drain handle to drain the tank the second time, it came off. I took it back to the dealer because because it was under warranty, they cut a hole in the under belly to gain access. Now I know where it is located when it happens again.
