bike rack for 26bh elite

Hello everyone i have a 2015 jay flight 26bh elite. I pull with a 5.3 liter 1/2 ton Silverado. I have read alot about rear bumper hitches. I know im not mounting directly to the bumper. I am either going to fab a custom receiver or buy a front A arm bike rack. I am worried about the bounce in the back and the extra tongue weight in the front. Opinions please! !!

May I suggest you do a forum search on bike racks ... there are a number of threads (current and past) with outstanding guidance, pictures, and specifics.

On my 2015 27DSRL I installed a Curt #13703 trailer hitch. It's a 2" receiver and gave me the option of bike racks or kayak carriers, etc. It very strong and stable.

How many bikes? Have you considered carrying the bikes in the bed of your truck? Or what about in the trailer between you bed and the wall behind the couch?

Have you weighed your truck and trailer at all? If not, consider weighing it when loaded up for a trip before going forward with the a-frame bike rack set up.

Weigh 3 times.
1: Truck and trailer ready to roll down the road. WD bars latched up.
2: Truck and trailer, but unlatch the wd bars. Place them in the bed.
3: Truck only. Leave WD hitch head in and bars in bed.

This will give you the loaded tw if your trailer, rear axle weight, and let you know how the wdh is adjusted. And let you know if your truck has enough payload available and the rear axle weight has enough "cushion" left for the a-frame rack.

Does your trailer have the tabs on the frame, at the rear just before the bumper? I added the factory Jayco receiver cargo hitch to our 32. I bought the hitch stabilizer u-bolt kit to eliminate the rack from bouncing as much. From what I understand it does pretty good going down the road. I have a thread in the Mods section that has pics of the hitch, and I believe the bike rack we have also. Also have pics in my signature link.

Some bike racks are not stout enough (rated) for the back of a tt.

Good luck!

Dealer welded side plates to our frame to strengthen it, then welded on a 2" receiver hitch. Works great.

I had that same one added to my old SOB fiver. They welded it on each end to the frame and then welded the sliding adjustment. It never moved in 4 years of use.

I would be a little unsure of just bolting it on.
