Booth Dinette up or down?

The owners manual says to put the dinette in the bed position, but my service manager says it doesn't matter.

Do you travel with the booth dinette in the table position or in the bed position? Post comments below.

We have had 4 RV's with booth dinettes and always traveled in the table position. Never had a problem.

I voted "It depends" only because sometimes I forget to lower it.

The only time my table is in the lowered position is when I need to use it as a bed for our grandson or friends that stay with us.
I have owned this trailer for 3 years now and have never had an issue.

I travel with it up only because no one has slept on it yet. No sense in making extra work for myself by putting it down.

I think we converted the dinette into a bed once- just to see what it looked lilke. Other than that, it's been a dinette for the last (soon to be) 11 years. We prefer it that way because we can store taller items like the trash cans, small plastic table, step stool and the box with the coffee maker underneath it when we are in travel mode.

I don't recall ever reading in the Jayco Owner's Manual anything that mentioned putting the dinette down when traveling.

Booth Dinette up or down?

On my third trailer and have never lowered one to travel. Never had an issue. I would think that maybe some types of dinettes might be a problem depending on how they are constructed but mine are always good to go.

In my owners manual it does tell you to lower table to 'bed" position when traveling, sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. Hasn't been a problem either way. I'm sure if it damages something, it will become a warranty issue. Jus my opinion.

I've never bothered to put the table down for travel in either my old Dodge Jamboree or the new Eagle...

table moves

We just picked up the trailer on Thursday and it never occurred to me to put it down to travel. However, when we got home, it had slide around and I'm worried that it will slide into the window or the cabinets on the other side and cause damage.
So, we'll either be putting it down or finding some way to stabilize it when traveling so it doesn't break anything else.

We traveled about 2,000 miles and noticed it moved a little on the wall rail. Last time it went all the way to the seat cushion. I am going to get a large head screw that will limit travel off the rail in the future.
The real problems we have found is that the table leg has chewed on the floor due to vibration/movement.
The big problem now is that I attempted to fold the leg and found the little button is broken off so we can't fold it or use the dinette as a bed until I figure how to fix it. Any ideas on where to get the part? And how to install it.

We don't have a wall rail, the table is free standing. The window is so big, it goes lower than the table. Once I read the book, it says to put the table down to the bed position for travel and I can see why. If it slides into the window, it could break it.

It depends on whether you have the fixed position type with poles and floor brackets or whether your table is the free standing fold up and down type which can be moved around and taken outside.
If it's the free standing type, and you leave it in the up position (even though it is most likely in a closed slide) it can fall over during transit and thusly damaging something like a cabinet or drawer or something....

My dinette is not attached to the floor. It was recommended that we travel with it in the bed position. Our whitehawk the table was attached and never put it down to travel
